The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

Strider's last 8 starts:

48.2 IP, 2.77 ERA, 2.48 FIP, xFIP 2.93, 11.65 K/9, 1.07 WHIP

Stuff wise, Strider isn't quite back to previous levels. His FB is now very average compared to being elite before. But his change and his curve have improved pretty dramatically and both have rated as plus pitches on Stuff+ over his last 8 starts.

He may never get back to 2023 Strider, but this version is still pretty damn good. With these improvements, the rest of the league better hope he doesn't get his pre-injury fastball back, because he will be downright unhittable.
What are you basing the fastball analysis on?

Stuff+ on FG and statcast data. He's about 2 mph of his pre-injury form and he's not getting the movement he got before.

He doesn't seem to have the natural rise but his location has been really good and he's got enough heat on it. Another offseason should help.

Also this is my weekly post that if Schwellenbach throws another pitch on a mound this season that AA should be thrown out of his office like he's Wile Coyote.

And McCoy is coming off an ACL injury. Rickey Gibson might be our most important player that isn't a QB
Colton Hood is a stud. Not super concerned there, but Boo is our most dynamic player on defense and was going to at least help with WR depth. Not good

Passan says we’ll move Ozuna, Iglesias and Pierce Johnson. I’ll believe it when I see it on Pierce but that’d make me happy.

Get some org depth, clear a little 2026 payroll, and have an actual offseason.

Pierce at $7M is actually good value but there is absolutely zero reason to keep him if you get any sort of decent prospect for him.

Also I doubt it but they need to clear Bummer's salary too. No reason to pay him $9.5M. The LH reliever market is so bare and his advanced numbers might entice somebody with a big budget (Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Giants).

I’ve given up on that but yes, huge win

Regardless of your opinion of Bummer - good, bad, indifferent - snit has treated him as the mop up guy since he got here. Absolutely pointless to pay him anything above the minimum.

It would be great if we could move Bummer with Ozuna. Maybe agree to eat the remaining 2025 portions of both their contracts.

I also like the idea of sending Bummer and Elder to Boston for Walker Buehler. We eat Buehler's 2026 buyout and pay Bummer's 2025 salary. Boston saves money the rest of this season and gets a semi-useful reliever and a better starter than Buehler.

Feels like we may punt a year that we can’t punt
Assuming you're talking about the Vols here.

Boo is important. So is Thomas to an extent. But this year will be decided by QB play. Luckily the schedule is on our favor. Our hardest teams (UGA and Bama) are going through their own QB changes. And I think Aguilar has the sort of experience that should let him excel in this offense.
