There is something called opportunity cost that exists with running the worst 2b in baseball out there every single day. What sort of back up 2b are you realistically gonna get for the 3 million saved?
We have Eli White and Nacho who can be given a shot if Ozzie doesn't get any better.
It’s classic sunk cost fallacy. You could literally put random .650-.700 OPS AAA guys at 2b, SS and CF and gotten more production but people are hung up on value and money that’s dead and gone. There is something called opportunity cost that exists with running the worst 2b in baseball out there every single day.
3 million, 10 million, 100 million, who cares. His current contract is sunk cost. We are compounding it ten fold with opportunity cost.
And then you add in the complete black hole in LF and it’s no wonder this has happened. They’re basically running 4 automatic outs out there everyday.I’m not looking this up but I find it very hard to imagine there’s been a worse offensive SS-2b-CF combo season in the history of baseball.
