The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

I’m not entertaining this conversation. If you don’t understand that hitting the ball hard is better than not hitting the ball hard then I got nothing for you.

My point is a hit is a hit. It's the same result.
I don't think hitting the ball hard is as important as where you hit it.

It's an interesting stat, but I don't think it means much

It’s fine to have that opinion but it just isn’t accurate.

Ronald gets a lot of hits because the ball leaves his bat at 110+ mph. Not because he’s serving it into the OF.

He’s literally knocking the SS and 3b down.

Guys who lead the league in doubles, home runs, etc hit the ball the hardest. Is what it is.

From last year. Outside of a couple, pretty elite group of hitters, no?

Ozzie was never suppose to anchor the lineup. Every season is he goes longs stretches on the milk carton, then randomly catches fire. Is what he is.

Olson was given the largest contract in franchise and loss of prospect capital to hit HRs and drive in runs. We are staring down the barrel of June and he has not done either.

A player hitting a couple of bloopers and driving in 2 runs has the same end result as a player crushing the ball off the wall and driving in 2 runs .

One is just as good as the other

Like 98% of those bloopers are caught for outs and like 2% of those crushed balls off the wall are caught for outs.

So sure, the end result is the same in your particular instance but if you do it 100 times then one is successful 98 times and the other is successful 2 times.

Give me the balls off the wall.

Why does exit velocity and hard hit percentage really matter? A hit is a hit. You can drive in runs with a blopper just as well as a hit to the gap.

Some of the stats were created just to give nitpickers something to do
Good Lord. Even I get this…. and I’m old.
