The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

It's July 1. That means the Mets will pay Bobby Bonilla another installment of $1.19M today.

He hasn't played in the majors since 2001, but he will be paid through 2035 ... when he'll be 72 🤯 - ESPN

This has become the de facto deferred money contract but it’s funny because the Braves and Bruce Sutter is much, much worse

Bruce Sutter will end up making $7.2M more in four years as a Braves reliever than Will Smith will in three years.

You are correct…but so was I.

The Braves will be done paying the $1M this year. They owe him the full $9.1M next year
Lol… You’re right. I didn’t realize there was also a balloon payment on the back end.
Bruce Sutter had a pretty pedestrian career with the Atlanta Braves. He signed with the team in 1985 and retired in 1988, recording 40 saves along the way. However, he still managed to score himself a sweet deal: six years, $9.1 million. But Sutter's salary was actually an interest payment on his money, so he earned $750,000 per year over those six years (including 1989 and 1990).

Since 1990, the Braves have paid Sutter $1.12 million every year. The payments will finally stop in 2022 – when Sutter is 69 years old – with a balloon payment of $9.1 million. In total, Sutter will make $47 million from the contract.

Figured I’d post it on the mothership for my internet homies but today is officially six weeks of being sober 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Hat’s off to you.

I’m actually 3 weeks sober today; not because I quit drinking, but because I absolutely got obliterated drinking margaritas on the beach a few weeks ago to the point that the thought of drinking alcohol still makes me cringe lol.

Congrats man, that's awesome!

We've been here a long time. Watched Z grow up from not being legal drinking age, to over drinking, to now sober. Internet friends ragging at each other all along thr way.
