I LOVE MAX ACE.
But I’m telling y’all he is better suited for us in the pen (only for this season).
NEWK is NOT a reliever. His stuff screams SP.
And he has earned another chance, honestly, if you ask me, he probably shouldn’t have been yanked. But it was ultimately the right call and I am glad they did it.
Maybe I'm just risk averse. He has proven to be shaky as a starter but lights out as a reliever. I dont want to give up what he has giving us as a reliever for him to possibly revert back to what he was before. I am not against it though because yeah, his stuff when on is REALLY on and we need it as an SP too.Folty has a touchdown for an ERA, Max Ace and Soroka have inning caps.
So 3 of the 5 starters right now are question marks. Leaves us with DK, love the signing, but hasn’t pitched in the majors in a long time, and Julio, who can be streaky either way.
SP is as big of an issue as the bullpen. We need Newk to start and we need him to be good.
You’re writing off his 1st half last year. For 1/2 a season he was borderline All Star as a SP.Maybe I'm just risk averse. He has proven to be shaky as a starter but lights out as a reliever. Im not saying the stuff isnt there or that he would definitely revert back. He has just spent more time as a starter being inconsistent though unless I'm misremembering. If they move him, I'm cool with that. I just like the Newk that has been coming out of the pen and mowing grass. You’re writing off his 1st half last year.
