The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

What makes any AD qualified to hire anybody? That's what they make search firms and consultants for.

And when did Fulmer become hard to deal with?

You want a 70 year old first time AD who’s only qualifications as to why he got the job in the first place is he’s an alum who coached football making a basketball hire? And I’d rather not rely hugely on coaching search firms, agents use them all the time to try and get their own guys raises.

So hitters can show emotion but pitchers can’t?

That’s not what I said. I said Archer shouldn’t be mad at anyone considering how much emotion shows. I want all the emotion in baseball. I want people to stop throwing at batters period.

I’m cool with just about anything as long as you leave the box. If you’re gonna stand in the box that long you gotta break out the fake binoculars or visor or something man. You can’t just stand there lol

I’d trust Phil 1000x more than Pencil Neck Currie, who was a Haslem puppet.
I think everybody was glad to see the Haslams lose a power struggle.

However, just because someone is not a puppet of Haslam doesn't mean they are a great AD. I think Phil was a great, and maybe the only, choice for AD at that time. I still have reservations about him being the AD outside of a crisis situation with the football program.

Same here. Him getting rid of Holly though makes me a little more optimistic about him. But with the names mentioned as her replacement have been less than great.

Yeah. I have questions about his administrative chops outside of dealing with issues outside of football. Being an athletic director is quite a bit different than being the head football coach. AD is a much "bigger picture," strategic job.

You won't get an argument from me on the qualifications. I didn't want him to get the job in the first place. I just don't think most ADs are doing a deep dive into Xs and Os when they make a hire in any sport. It's almost always coming from boosters and ex-coach consultants. Say what you want about Fulmer.... he at least knows the people to talk to.

If Dansby is going to hit now, then we need to sign him to a long term contract as well eventually. I know he isn't going to be a career 310 hitter or whatever he is now. But with his glove, if he can bat 285 or above and give us around 15 homers, we need to lock him up as our home grown short stop.

Hopefully they have intentions for Ozzie as well

I still can't get over just how badly we robbed Arizona blind in that trade. Dansby hasn't even developed into the superstar some people thought he might, and we still totally robbed them.

Not just once, but twice in 2 years (Upton trade as well).

Not yet completely sold on Dansby to give him an extension.
