It is very selfish to guess pitches with 2 strikes and the tying run on third base, especially in the 9th inning with 1 out when you are quite literally the only guy who gets to tie the game just by making contact. Exposing yourself to striking out on a meatball down the middle because you guessed wrong. The whole point of guessing is to hit the ball over the fence. That’s fine and dandy but not in that situation. Not following how you get from guessing to selfish?
Neris is just weird the way he pitches almost backwards. And his split acts more like a straight change or choked fastball. He threw about 3 or 4 that just floated in high in the zone but nobody could do anything with it.It is very selfish to guess pitches with 2 strikes and the tying run on third base, especially in the 9th inning with 1 out when you are quite literally the only guy who gets to tie the game just by making contact. I don’t feel like looking up the %s but I’m willing to stake a good bit of money he throws the split a significant amount of time with two strikes. You can’t eliminate swinging at the pitch he’s most likely to throw given the situation.Neris is just weird the way he pitches almost backwards. JD has been a chronic guesser all year. He blew through his career high in K's a couple of weeks ago.I don’t feel like looking up the %s but I’m willing to stake a good bit of money he throws the split a significant amount of time with two strikes.
