Edit: That actually isn't true - the payments started in 2011, not 2001. So it was actually 8% interest for 25 years starting in 2011. Still incredible.

I knew other deferred deals existed, but they are more widespread than I thought they were. Manny has one, Scherzer has one, etc. According to this ESPN article Bonilla himself has another deferred comp deal from Baltimore that pays him $500k/year through 2029. So he's actually been collecting more like $1.7m/year. Good for him.
