The Bonilla contract was a lot more fun before I learned the braves are doing the exact same thing with Bruce ****ing Sutter

Yeah. The rationale of that deal being they were investing with Madoff is the most Met thing ever though. I think that's why it gets the press, than and they're in New York.

I knew other deferred deals existed, but they are more widespread than I thought they were. Manny has one, Scherzer has one, etc. According to this ESPN article Bonilla himself has another deferred comp deal from Baltimore that pays him $500k/year through 2029. So he's actually been collecting more like $1.7m/year. Good for him.

Yes Greinke also has one. 5 years/$62.5M after 2021. The Scherzer one is dopey. You have to pay him $15M over 7 years after 2021. No way I’d touch that contract.
