That was Hopkins and the VP. Both have admitted it now. Hopkins said he purposely acted like a crazy prick so he would force a trade. The VP ordered him out. The VP also chose not to hire a GM and basically made O'Brien the defacto GM.

Not saying BOB would be the perfect coach, but his resume is much better than some are giving him credit for. How he pulled off keeping Penn St afloat was really good, and he was coach of the year there. Then 6 full seasons with Texans, one losing season when Watson went down as a rookie. 4 division titles, and 2-2 in the playoffs. That is pretty damn good.

Agreed. That whole "must have southern ties" thing is idiotic. Why would you immediately shrink your pool of talent to choose from based on that? A good coach is a good coach is a good coach, no matter what part of the country you are from. If he can coach X's and O's, develop players, and recruit, I don't care if he's from Tasmania. I would leave absolutely no stone unturned in this coaching search. I would even look at FCS coaches. Look at the guy who came from North Dakota State and is now at Kansas State. He's doing a fine job over there. I'd look NFL, FBS, FCS, everywhere. That way when we do get ready to pull the trigger, we can say with a clear conscience that we made the best, most informed hire we possibly could. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. But at least we can say we did it the right way.

Not impressed. But this job is going to need someone with either the balls or ego to bet on themselves. He probably has that. If they hire him I would support him but I wouldn't be excited. I put him in the high floor low ceiling category. Not a major risk but not going to ever win the east division.

He’s not walking out on Saban after a week on the job. NS would leave the starters in and hang 70 next year at Bryant- Denny. That being said, If he were interested, I would drive to Tuscaloosa and pick him and enough Archibalds BBQ up for all of us.

He would be a solid hire! Would stay for 4 or 5 years. Then he would go back to the NFL
