Say what you want as Kiffin brings a new philosphy to bear a UT. All out war with those stand his his way to creating greatness in the UT football program.
I personally think Kiffin is a student of Sun Tsu and is applying "The Art Of War" to his campaign of greatness.

From Wikipedia:

The Art of War is one of the oldest and most successful books on military strategy in the world. It has had a huge influence on Eastern military thinking, business tactics, and beyond.
Sun Tzu recognized the importance of positioning in strategy and that position is affected both by objective conditions in the physical environment and the subjective opinions of competitive actors in that environment.
He taught that strategy was not planning in the sense of working through a to-do list, but rather that it requires quick and appropriate responses to changing conditions.
Planning works in a controlled environment, but in a competitive environment, competing plans collide, creating unexpected situations.

Ut has stole the day and currently ruling the media waves at a time when young recruits are paying attention.

Nice try.....I would agree that the art of war demands that you know your enemy, and plan wisely. But I must have missed the chapter on boasting, bragging or slandering your enemy.

Kiffin messed in his britches a few times over past couple of days....he needs to zip it up and start to plan his attack on the battle field....he has raised the hackles of his foe on his Western, Eastern, and Southern fronts.....maybe he is still good to go for a Northern victory in late November.

Have you ever read SUN TZU'S "THE ART OF WAR".

The first chapter is entitled Calculations.
I For one believe that not only does CLK has read the book i believe he lives it.

.he has raised the hackles of his foe on his Western, Eastern, and Southern fronts.....maybe he is still good to go for a Northern victory in late November.

This was accomplished by directly defeating them in their own back yard by raiding their great assistant coaches and turning top notch recruits to UT that were committed to our "Western, Eastern and Southern fronts".

Kiffin messed in his britches a few times over past couple of days....he needs to zip it up and start to plan his attack on the battle field.

Just plain stupid. His comments have energized the fan base. Created controversy which lead to a positive media frenzy when the hype should have been on Alabama and LSU signing great classes. Kiffin also let the nation, SEC coaches and High school coaches know that business as usual will not be tolerated at UT and we will be in your face.
The type of young players Kiffin wants will know and appreciate his brutally direct, energized winning approach and results on the field will follow suit.

I for one am excited about the new UT Vols and will make the long drive this coming season to watch.

#22 Anger the enemies general and confuse him.--if the enemy general is obstinate and prone to anger, insult and enrage him, so that he will be irritated and confused, and without a plan will recklessly advance against you.

You missed the point of what Kiffin is doing. He has a couple of objectives to revive this program - yes REVIVE:
1. Create enthusiasm with the fan based after an ugly 5-7 season and being a relatively unknown commodity
2. Start changing the attitude and culture of his players by getting some swagger/confidence back by taking on the top programs in the SEC.
3. Given the good but not spectacular recruiting class get as much national PR as possible out of the last good PR opportunity before spring ball which is more local/regional interest the national.

I say GO KIFFIN!!!!

War is just an extension of politics according to AOW. Here's the political reality of what's happened over the past couple of days. CLK has told the world that UT is done being intimidated by Urban Meyer and UF.

Whether a rule was broken or not, Meyer looks like a whiner and patsy in the whole Nuke thing... He was played and embarrassed.

Bluster has always been a big part of coaching... and political negotiations between adversaries... aka saber rattling.

Did he slander him? You sound like a Meyer-crush guy with that. It isn't slander to tell the truth about something but be wrong about it being against the rules. Meyer still called Nuke like a clingy girlfriend. As a football player, would you rather be playing for the guy who is thumbing his nose at the defending NC or a whiner?

Kiffin also sent a message to his own team... "I'm not afraid of the big bad Gators like Fulmer was".

Kiffin messed in his britches a few times over past couple of days....he needs to zip it up and start to plan his attack on the battle field....he has raised the hackles of his foe on his Western, Eastern, and Southern fronts.....maybe he is still good to go for a Northern victory in late November.
The only thing that will last in people's memories is that Meyer and CLK had a disagreement and Meyer looked like a whining weenie... if they remember even that amount of detail.

Would hiring assistants from rival teams qualify as knowing your enemy? You act like all Kiffin has done is run his mouth. Have you paid any attention to the hiring of the coaching staff? That's one hell of a brain trust on the hill now.
It is not enough to win, the opponent must be destroyed.

Remember what Neuheisel (sp?) did when he was hired as UCLA's new coach? He took out a full page ad in the paper with a picture of himself and the caption said something to the effect of "The Football Dynasty in Los Angeles is Officially Over."

So please, stop acting like this sort of thing has never been done before.

A lot of this reaction I'd attribute to 'battered fan' syndrome. We're so used to getting thrashed and saying thank you sir may I have another, that this new approach is shocking and unsettling. People are blinking in the new bright light trying to get their bearing.

I LOVE IT!!!

Yes and while you are not impressed, guess whose headlines are 3/4 inch high on the Tampa Newspaper sports page with the largest article front and center. Guess whose picture is six inches high on the left with Urban's 6" high mug onthe right? That's right - CLK. I do not even have to ask if the same is true for Orlando, West Palm, Jax, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers,,,, and guess how many blue chippers are seeing his face and the name Tennessee today? If you cannot see that CLK is willing to take a reprimand for about 3 million in advertisement and brand placement in the homes of his future kids, you have to be very near sighted.

Now I see where Jim Rome is talking aobut him,, and last night ESPN College Football was laughing about it for over ten minutes! I hope you are impressed now!

Other than being wrong on the rule... this was well calculated.

What is there to gain by making smoochie faces with Meyer? If a kid grows up UF bound then there's scant chance he'll go to UT anyway. But for the kids who want to leave Florida or grow up anti-UF fans... then he just jumped on their side.

I grew up hating UNC... If I'd been a ACC caliber basketball player, I would never have gone there but would have placed whatever school had the best chance of beating them at the top of my list. That is the type of FL kids that UT has to target... and CLK just made a direct hit. FSU, USF, and Miami were every bit as much in target with this as UF.

Message to FL kids: "If you grew up hating the Gators, you now have a new best option".

I like the Harbaugh/USC example a lot more.

It's funny how Pennington over at Knoxville News now has references to the Art of war in one one of his articles. Those guys seem to cruise the chat boards for their ideas and material. Pennington: If Kiffin wins, he can keep on talking : Columns : GoVolsXtra.com

"Spurrier was known for having a copy of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" in his office. Perhaps Kiffin also has a copy". A new tid bit from Pennington for most but was still old news.

great point... similar to the "who you gonna git" syndrome on the SportsAnimal and in the News-Senseless..

General Neyland's 7 Maxims

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.

3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.

4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.

5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.

7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.
I think Kiffin is going to do it 365..:clapping: :salute:
