The All Things Cycling Thread

12+ miles on mtb. Crossed paths with a rattle snake. He was cranky when i asked him to share the trail.

Rare early morning group ride on tap. And by group, I mean two other people. They wanted to go at this ungodly hour because of the "heat."

HTFU.

Thought about getting up early and going for a ride up the mountain. stayed up too late and drank too much beer.

Got lapped. Too many riders that registered for cat 4 in the cat 5 race. Not cool. Fun, nonetheless. I didn't get last, either. I'll stick to mountain bike racing the rest of the year. Can't wait to watch the men's pro/1/2 race. So very windy down here.

So pissed. Official results are posted online and I'm not on there anywhere. In fact, most of the riders that were lapped and told to pull off are not listed, except for the 3 directly behind me.

Oh dear. How far was the lap?

Today an unidentified insect got caught in my jersey and stung my back.

The only thing worse than that is when it happens when you are on a fast descent.

A lap was like .8 miles. About half the field was lapped... Officially I finished 32nd, but they pulled that out of their ass.

There were 144 racers in the pro/1/2 race...

Difference is that there were 47 inexperienced riders in cat 5. Very scary.

Dang, my brother is contemplating getting into crits. A little nerve wracking. Congrats to you for getting out there and doing it.

It's not easy. I need more saddle time and then ill be able to keep up. Sad thing is that there aren't more crits in the area. They're more dangerous than road races. I still have yet to do a road race. Maybe I'll find one of them soon. I'm almost convinced to give IL road racing for the year, though, as I'm more suited to mtb racing. Bad thing is that I can't ride the trails after it rains.
