The All Things Cycling Thread

Perfect weekend for some winter riding. Upper 40s tomorrow, low 40s today and Sunday. Little wind from the south. Sunny.

I've had joint issues interfering with cycling since November. I started a new drug four weeks ago, and some days things are much better, but others they are not.

Yesterday I rode about 25 miles and my knees felt pretty good. Overnight my right knee ballooned up to the point that I'm using a cane to slowly get around. Right now I can't predict what my joints will look like from one day to the next. It's very frustrating.

Damn. That's horrible.

Heading to Chattanooga on 4/8 & 4/9 to do some riding and visit. Any recommendations, especially in the Apisin area?

There are any number of rides between Chattanooga and Cleveland. You could tour through Prater's Mill or Red Clay State Park. VWs got a trail system built behind the plant. A little further away you could ride beside the river on Birchwood Pike.

I haven't really ridden anything but commuting in the last 30 days...

More than I've done. Earlier in the year joints were an issue. That has gotten better, though related fatigue is still there. Also a work adjustment has made it inconvenient to ride as many days a week as I was.

Being under staffed at the bike shop I moonlight weekends at has killed any sort of weekend riding now that the weather has broken wide open.

It's National Bike To Work Week. I helped convince over 50 businesses to offer specials to anyone that arrives by bike. Sat out this morning serving breakfast on the MUP for bike commuters. Great weather for it, too.

I dropped my bike off at the peddler in Memphis for a tune up and new tires and tubes. Ordered some clip in shoes. I'll be road ready in a week. Look out!

Starting to round into good shape after a slow start to the year. Maybe this'll be the year I really break out.
