The affect and draw of Rick Barnes.

Very good. However we all know DB wasn't using attempting to use affect in either of those two ways. The reason we know this is one of the very next sentences in his post was "What effect do yall think Rick Barnes will have on...."

Now can we all just laugh at the poor guy for a second and move on? I didn't intend to hijack the entire thread.

Seems there's more confusion than you think. The use of "affect" in the thread title was incorrect. "Effect" in his first sentence of the OP was used correctly, and that should have been used in the thread title. He interchanged affect and effect when both cases called for "effect."

Before people start whining, there's little else to talk about, and everyone needs to be literate IMO.

Yep, it was an oversight that was fixed. It's fine to make a mistake, but when the mistake is pointed out just say you were wrong and fix it.

Which was the typo? The comma that should've been a period or not capitalizing the "n" in "next" because it was supposed to be the start of a new sentence?

"Nope" was an introductory word/clause in my sentence, which is to be followed by a comma. I accidentally wrote "possive" when I was trying to type out "possessive." There is an error in my post, technically. I should have wrote "Nope, the next subject is..." I obviously shorthanded that, as I often do. (HYPOCRITE!! lol)

Silly goose, you know what introductory words are. (<--see, I just used it again) (<--holy crap, I did it again) (<-- and again)

The way you proposed would also be correct, obviously.

Ok. Fair enough.

Dallas, I'm hoping the Barnes effect will get rolling soon! He affects players' chances of getting in the NBA, so hopefully that effect will affect our recruiting endeavors effectively!

I don't see that happening. It would be like Tobias going to Auburn and cheering on the Tigers because of Bruce. However, I do see something more like him making appearances for camps, motivational talks, etc.

A tidbit from a Climer article:

As far as recruiting goes, Barnes has a strong history. In the last 10 recruiting classes, he has signed 23 players who were ranked among the nation's top 100 prospects by Rivals.com. That includes five players who were ranked as top 10 recruits.

Although he has focused his recruiting on the state of Texas, nine of those 23 top-100 prospects were from other states.

Tobias will probably be at an Auburn game this year because his brother is there, if I'm not mistaken. But I agree to your point. Different circumstances.
I could see a Dane Bradshaw going to an Auburn game, because he owes a lot of his successes to Pearl. He probably wouldn't address the team though, because they probably wouldn't know who he was. I forgot he is an SEC Network analyst.
It seems anytime a coach/player comes here with a celebrity friend the "don't be surprised to see_____ here in Knoxville" talk comes up. Buzz Peterson/Michael Jordan and Emmanuel Negedu/blonde super model for example.

I think there is a slightly higher chance of Kevin Durant showing up during the summer simply due to the fact of Bobby Maze being here too. They are childhood friends. Maybe Barnes being here will enhance the chances of Durant making one of the celebrity games. I'm still not counting on it though.

I'd rather see Chris Lofton show up to support the Vols than Kevin Durant.

Nothing personal but what you or I would rather see is less important that what recruits would rather see. They know KD and do not know about CL. So for recruiting purposes an KD appearance would be big. Most fans would like to see both players.

Four stars and five stars and lottery picks are gonna be "coming 'round the mountain (good ole Rocky Top)". Go, Vols.
