The 6th man

A bit like Jon Crompton and Rick Clausen. Flashes of brilliance and disaster. People will generally remember the good though, as we have been not great the time he has been here the good moments will tend to stand out.

I pray that I never see anything like the Crompton again in my life.

So far, the Almighty has been merciful.

I'm real curious what he does at the end of the year. No way he's not, at the very least, battling Maurer for the job all Spring and Summer.

Yeah but destroying a highly ranked UGA and being tackled by Lane Kiffin during the bowl on the sideline is the only thing I choose to remember about him.

Last year we talked about toughness because of the punishment he took from defenses and still somehow managed to stand tall in the pocket. This year we talk about toughness because of the abuse he’s taken from the fan base and still has confidence when his number is called.

I’ve been one of his most critical posters on this board. Tonight he made me look like an idiot.

Ok we saw Maurer for a half and while he didn't make any huge mistakes and he's not bad for a freshman he is still a freshman. Maybe this could be the turning point for JG. It's long overdue if so and only time will tell. We need to win out. I think all the JG haters who want him to transfer are going to be disappointed. He won't wimp out and go to a loser Rutgers team. We have some real QB competition and depth for next year.

He's playing good ball I think he deserves to start vs Mizzou. Either way he's had himself some great moments he should be proud of for the rest of his life.

I think he deserves to start, but he seems to play better coming off the bench.

I agree. JG played like we all expected he would coming into this season. If he can keep it up with being decisive and in rhythm like he did tonight he’s got a real chance at the next level. As for Maurer, he played as if he were told to keep his legs “bottled up”. If that’s the case, although understandable, that takes away half his game.

JG has learned a valuable lesson i believe. Run the plays that has been called, change protection if need be but dont do your own thing and he's getting the ball out on time thats been huge too. And can we give some love to them receivers... Some of those catches were NFL grown man catches.

With the verbal and physical abuse he has endured, he'll be the toughest (mentally and physically) qb in my mind for a long time.

He’s been through a lot. 4 OCs. Tons n punishment (physical and verbal). Dude is getting there
