The 3/7 bracketology

I've seen Texas play, but no, not Air Force. Thing is, AF has lost its last three, all by ten or more, including at home to 13-16 TCU. Their only truly decent out of conference competition was Stanford (mediocre at best) and Duke, to whom they lost by 15.

They beat UNLV and Texas Tech as well. 7-5 vs. top 100, 25th in RPI.

Florida's likely road to Final Four would be: (play-in game), Air Force, Texas, and Wisconsin. That in my mind is not that bad, at least until Wisconsin.

Compare that to UCLA's, which would be Weber St., Vandy, UNLV, and Marquette. Theirs gets tough starting with the second game.

Or OSU, playing Niagara, Villanova, Tennessee, and Georgetown. From seocnd round on, Ouch!

Kansas might well have to beat Central Conn., Kentucky, Louisville, and North Carolina. Brutal from the second on.

Vandy, UNLV, and Marquette's average RPI is 23.3.

Air Force, Texas, and Wisconsin's average RPI is 19.3.

The first part of that, misleading, plus those teams are not anything special. As to 7-5 v. Top 100, yawn.

They're both tournament teams, so solid victories.

7-5 vs. top 100 for a mid major is also solid. Of course, USAFA would be smoked by Florida, but they aren't a cupcake.

This isn't based on handicaps. They don't get ten points added to their score at the end.

Whole point is, I would rather play AF than Kentucky or Villanova or Vandy or teams along a similar path for another top seed.

Of course you'd rather play USAFA than those teams.

However, the triad of USAFA, Texas, and Wisconsin is a tougher mountain to climb than Vanderbilt, UNLV, and Marquette.

AF = creampuff. The tough one in there is Texas. Wisconsin is good, but overrated along with Big Ten brethren, IMO.

The other path is probably overall lighter, but its not got any "easy" outs in it at all.

Air Force will be tough for anyone that hasn't faced them this season. Marquette's loss to Wisconsin would seem to indicate something other than Marquette being a tougher game than Wisconsin.

Let's also hope North Dakota State doesn't get in anyone's way in the tournament, since they also defeated the tough out Marquette this season.

Warren Nolan's projection has UT a 3 seed versus Penn. Penn has pulled upsets in the past, but I thnk UT would win that one comfortably.

We'd then face the winner of VT/Gonzaga - great shot to beat VT, solid shot to beat the Zags.

Then we'd have the 2 seed - Kansas.

Beating VT would be a dream come true. I would truly look forward to going to work the next day.

UC Santa Barbara beat UNLV and Furman beat Vandy, so watch out for those guys.

Air Force is a team that, if I were Bruce Pearl, I would absolutely NOT want to see. Air Force is Butler, with 5 guys on the floor that can shoot jumpers instead of 2-3. And we all know how well UT fared against Butler (of course, the Vols have come a long way since then, but still.)

You honestly don't think that Air Force couldn't give Florida fits for at least 30 minutes, LG?

Air Force couldn't give TCU fits in their last game. They are toast. Whoever draws them is essentially getting a 1st round bye.

I really don't think much of them. I guess the two teams do not have much in common competition-wise, bit it sure does seem that AF would simply be totally outmatched in terms of athletes.
