The 2023 March Madness “Other Games” Thread

I think very few make it past the 2nd round.

Disagree. Alabama, Mizzou, and Kentucky will all advance to the Sweet 16, IMO. 3 teams out of 16 ain’t bad. Jury is still out on Tennessee. If they somehow wake up, 4 teams is elite from one conference.

Way to cherry pick one game. After KY wins we will be 6-2.

I get it. I think the SEC teams are generally slightly better than their 1st round opponents but A&M is the SEC #2 team by a wide margin in the regular season and the SEC tournament.

Someone has to teach officials how to call a jump ball. Grabbing arms, slapping the ball, and jumping on top of a player who is on the ground are not jump balls. Embarrassing how some of these are called.

Kentucky isn't getting past the 2nd round. I will have to look at Missouri's matchup.

SEC has had a very good showing so far. It’s about matchups. A&M can’t match a 3 point shooting team. A&M was probably underseeded too.

Texas A&M won a ton of games at home because officials gave them a friendly whistle and they shot roughly 30 free throws a game. You don’t get to do that on a neutral court in March. Texas A&M has been fraudulent all year.

True. I never thought they were that good but they barely lost in the conference.

Like us, they got nearly all of their toughest games at home. They’re a good team, but they’re not the 2nd best in the SEC, IMO. And they aren’t a team built to win in March.

It’s both
Yeah, yeah, the refs favor aTm to preserve that "great basketball tradition that is aTm"?????

That might be true for KY in basketball but aTm?

Where is the logic that an always mediocre aTm team would get favorable (Duke, KY, etc) ref treatment? There's no reason that would be true.

Because I watched them play. They played free throw Merchant basketball that just isn’t a consistent way to win games because it relies on refs that wanna blow the whistle.

They got lucky this year and got a lot of those crews. But their luck ran out.

Whining because aTm played aggressively on offense?

They're always mediocre, ALWAYS. They're never going to get "that benefit of the doubt call" like KY or Duke or NC or the Zags....... never.

Their coach isn't a "work the refs" coach and they aren't a blue blood. Get past it. The refs don't favor aTm and Penn State shot their lights out.

I’m not trying to argue that they get a blue blood whistle. I’m saying they play a style of basketball that is dependent on the ref to blow the whistle and if doesn’t happen, they suck. Their last two games they got boat raced cause the whistle didn’t blow.

UT shot 21 free throws, La shot 9.

Does that mean UT "played a style of basketball that is dependent on the ref ......"

BS. We pounded it on La because it worked. aTm pounded in on us because it worked. They didn't on Penn State because they were getting BOMBED from the 3 line and couldn't afford to trade 2 for 3.

Always complaining about the refs is soft. You do what works, like UT did tonight, and sometimes that's pounding it inside and killing them at the line and/or in the paint. aTm prefers that style because their 3pt game sucks...... obviously...... so they get more foul shots than most when they can. Penn State took them out of their game, but it had ZERO to do with the refs. You said it yourself: that's their normal style, NOT the refs.

But you started by insisting "they didn't get the calls from the refs." Waffle all you want now but it isn't the refs giving aTm calls and you know it.

You are missing the point but type more words next time.

Do you acknowledge that some refs call games tighter than others, or are they all the same? Everyone else has just been saying A&M got ref crews that call the game tight
