Stat they just flashed in the Chiefs game...80% of teams that make the SB have a 1st round bye. This is why playing in a ****** division is such a huge advantage

I can't believe that New England lost at home to Miami with a playoff bye on the line. We may look back at this game as the beginning of the end of the Brady/Belichick dynasty. I hope so, anyway.

Staubach was a naturally instinctive force of nature QB playing for the standard in micromanaging in Tom Landry. Dual threat before they knew what it was. Few years ago (in his 70’s), he completely outclassed Aikman in a charity football game they were competing in. Bring him in his prime into this quarterback friendly football world, and he’d redefine the term great QB.

I didn't see Staubach but i do know my Dad's generation has far more esteem for him than my generation has for Aikman.
Aikman was a good QB and he came up big in the playoffs in the Cowboys 3 Super Bowl runs... but he also spent most of his career handing the ball to #22. That is reflected in his stats, which are nothing special at all. 165 TD passes, 141 interceptions, 32,942 yards passing, 61.9 completion %.

NFL seems really deep to me this year. Not sure I can remember a season with this many truly good teams.

Saints, Packers, Niners, Vikings, and Seahawks all seem legit on the NFC side.

Ravens and Chiefs seem a cut above the rest in the AFC, but you can still never count Brady /Belichick out, the Titans come in playing some of the best ball in the league, and the Texans and Bills are both capable of beating anyone on a given day.

Should be a fun playoffs.

Not sure about that one; before the Texans game 2 weeks ago I would agree, but not after that game.

Pats conceivably have to go Titans, @ Chiefs, @ Ravens to get to the SB and then they're going to see a really good team in the SB. I don't see how it's possible. Even if they didn't have all these recent problems, that's 3x harder than hosting the Chargers, Chiefs, then Rams in the SB.

Bigger picture it’s hard to deny it though. They’re still averaging a clean 30 ppg since Tannehill took over. Second only to Baltimore I believe. Have the league’s leading rusher and one of the highest rated passers. Doesn’t get much hotter than that.

And even in those two late season losses they didn’t even play particularly bad. Still outgained Houston and hung tight with New Orleans with Derrick Henry on the sidelines.

I will say that the defense has really missed Jackson and Butler though.

Yeah. Yesterday was a majorly uncharacteristic crap of the bed for them.

Well....other than winning the games. I get your point but at the same time they lost to Houston at home with the division on the line. That's not exactly what I'd call "hot", which is why I said I'd agree up until that game. Portions of the team hot? Sure. Overall....eh....not so sure.

The Saints and second Texans game is hard to judge because for the Saints the Titans didn't have Henry and might have won with him, and the Texans weren't even trying.

All true... and Brady just doesn't look the same as he did last year at this time of the season. That pick 6 yesterday looked awful. He is starting to resemble how Peyton looked in his last season.

I don't get your point with the bold. I don't see how that helps the argument that they aren't a "hot team". If anything, it kind of supports the contrary. The Saints are one of the best teams in the league, and the Titans gave them all they wanted....without their best player.

Yesterday's game was a laugher, but it's not like they backed into the playoffs on a field goal. It was a 35-14 thumping, which is generally what you'd expect a good team to do.

I'll agree the first Houston game was a bad loss given what was at stake, but I mean....it was 24-21. And I'm not gonna pretend like Houston isn't a good team. Regardless, my whole point was simply that the Titans are playing some pretty damn good football right now, at least offensively, and most of the football world seems to agree.
