Others to add to hot seat list

Clay Helton - don't think he will actually be fired, but it is within the realm of possibility. Will likely be forced to make big changes to his staff and if they don't improve markedly next year he's probably done. If they lose to UCLA tomorrow, he might very well be fired.
Chris Ash (Rutgers) - 1-9 this year, 7-27 overall
Randy Edsall (UConn) - also 1-9 this year

The others on that list (Taggart, Gus, Gundy, Sitake, Fuente) I think are facing some heat for sure but aren't at risk of being fired after this season.

That list really isn't a good source in my opinion. Coach Bro has been a constant favorite since he was announced.

Who's Coach Bro?

It's just some guy's opinion - you can quibble with the exact order of the list, and I think he's prone to put some guys too high. For example, Fuente at #11. He's facing grumblings, but when I hear "hot seat" I think firing is in the realm of possibility. There is no way in hell Virginia Tech is firing Fuente, not after his first two seasons and the extension they just signed him to. Mullen is also too high at #23.

I think it's pretty much accurate though where guys near the top of it are definitely at risk.

Although I have no idea why anyone would hire him without a coach in waiting is beyond me... there is interest from a few schools. Les and LSU came to terms as to a final settlement yesterday which would make it much easier for him to get what he wants or doesn't want. Of course, I'm surprised that he isn't waiting for LSU to open back up as the world has had to put up with stupid talking heads on TV (and a few on this forum) for two years about how the cookie monster wouldn't finish the year. LOL

I'm glad Orgeron is doing good. It has to hurt Bamas recruiting so I'm all for it.

I'm not sure LSU is quite there yet, hopefully slight improvements and maybe in the next year or two they can compete on a higher level. (Not there yet) As far as Les, he's a good guy, he was actually a good coach... but I don't think I would recommend him for a HC job unless there is a head coach in waiting type situation... actually I suggested last year for whoever was going to take a chance on Frost to hire Les in some type of role with him. Frost is and was unprepared for what was going to occur.

Cant wait to see who wins the battle to sign the best coach ever, Lane Kiffin. He's killing it down at FAU......

Miles must have a strong streak of masochism. Kansas is as hopeless as they come.

Technically under his contract with LSU he had to continue to seek employment, but there were no clauses per se other than he should seek in good faith. The final settlement yesterday was the tell, as both parties could move on without hindrance and oversight as the contract was still ongoing. In hindsight LSU didn't do too badly, meaning they probably paid Les less than a years salary or so in the termination. ("didn't do too badly", is a relative statement as all these guys way overdone on the salary, imo)

Good luck to Les, he is pretty good guy, but I am with you... its probably going to be tough go. (I do miss his humor)

There could be a big opening this year. Low level rumors, but the Dallas Cowboys might be informally looking at a new coach. And thr rumor is Switzer is whispering in the ear of a certain someone in Oklahoma.

Unless they beat Texas this week, it has been 10 years since Kansas has won more than 3 games. They have finished over .500 in conference play twice since 1995. Eek.

It won't happen this year, but I'd expect Justin Fuente to enter next season firmly on the hot seat. This is the worst Virginia Tech team in 25 years.

He has a longer leash than Fuente, but I wonder when Richt starts feeling some heat? They have simply not been very good at all since the Pitt game last year, and they are extremely streaky. In the 2016 season they went 9-4 with the 4 losses coming all in a row right in the middle of the season. Last year they go 10-3, the 3 losses all right at the end of the season. This year they are 6-5 with a loss in the season opener (streak continued from previous season) and then another 4-game losing streak.

Fuente has to beat Virginia and Marshall to keep Tech's bowl streak alive. 1992 was the last year they missed a bowl.

I would say Richt has some time. This is his 3rd season, but he really had nothing to speak of going in. He had to recruit more than just a few empty places. I did expect to see more by now. I think he made a bad call to stick with Rozier instead of going full tilt with Perry. His, and the teams development suffered from that.
