The 2017 NBA Finals Thread

Can you imagine what people would be saying if Lebron had actually played badly in the last 2 games? The amount of criticism he gets for good performances is just crazy.

He has 11 points total in the 4th quarter through 3 games.

The game is 4 quarters long. His team was +7 with him last night. Honestly, what more do you think one person can do?

He's averaging a triple-double through the first 3 games....

...the last person to do it through 2 finals games was Wilt, 50 years ago.

Cavs without Lebron, wouldn't win the playoffs. Warriors without Durant, would still win the playoffs. They've already proved that once before. I get so sick of Lebron haters saying KD is the main reason the Warriors are so good in the playoffs. They were already the best team in the NBA even before KD's arrival.

It's almost comic and sickening to see how much criticism Lebron has had his whole life. He was already being criticized his 1st rookie season at Cleveland.

So KD is getting all the talk, but who is MVP?

Curry - 28.7 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 9 apg, 3.7 topg, 2 spg, +18 points over par
KD - 34 ppg, 10 rpg, 6 apg, 2 topg, 1.3 spg, 2 bpg, +26 points over par

I've got them about even, rn.

What is this black and white world where it's hate Lebron vs support KD? I don't support either one but understand and agree with all of their career moves. Which to me are the same. Both went where they had a strong chance to win a ring and market themselves.

Personally, I like them both. I'm not much of a hater. I grew up hating a lot of players, one of them being Shaq, and in hindsight I wish I would have just appreciated him. He was a one of a kind talent, just like Lebron. Just like KD. We'll never see anybody quite like them again. Basketball fans need to just enjoy the ride and quit being so *****y.

KD. Especially for his defense.

I just think Curry is opening things up for KD moreso than the other way around and Curry has been making tons of plays on defense and probably did the best out of anybody against Kyrie yesterday. Curry makes so many plays. 5 offensive rebounds yesterday. Nobody else on GSW even had 2.

Shaq did the same thing, imo. Left Penny and Orlando finals team for LA.

LA wasn't a better team though. IIRC, it was more about beef with ownership, Penny jealousy*, and $.

*which is somewhat similar to KD not wanting to play with Russ.

Yes, circumstances were a bit different. But he still left the team that drafted him to go where he thought things would be better for him, whatever the reasons. And left behind a quality/championship level team to do it.

(He more had a beef with the coach, iirc, and some stupid polls the paper ran)

Since when do you care about +/-?

I'm critical of the stat because it greatly depends on who you play with and who you play against. Since Lebron played 46 minutes, he played with and against everyone.
