The 2017 NBA Finals Thread

He requested the trade to a contender. And averaged nearly 22 ppg that year.

At what age does it become socially acceptable to go after a ring on a contender?

And what does social media have anything to do with anything?

You're talking about people whining. We didn't have a platform for whining in 1995.

Leaving a contender at age 27 is much different than asking to be traded from a loser at age 32.

Kevin Durant won the MVP award and is regularly in the convo for best player. Drexler was nowhere near KD's level.

He's a top 50 guy who chased a ring. That's how I view KD.

KD is probably the 2nd best scoring wing in NBA history and he's also great all around. Clyde is a top 50 player, but KD is top 20 and very possibly top 10, when all is said and done.

And again, KD left a great situation at a young age. Clyde was ring chasing and it discounts his title to some degree, but it's nothing like what KD has done.

So now there's 2 cut offs I need clarified. What age is it socially acceptable to chase a ring? At what level of greatness is it ok to chase a ring?

Someone explain the rules for me.

To me, KD saw that what they had wasn't enough and no one great was going to sign at a discount to play in OKC. He had to go elsewhere to get it done. And, it appears, he will be right about all of it.

All I'm saying is 27 is different than 32 in hoops. Do you diasagree?

I didn't say what Clyde did was socially acceptable or OK. I just said it's different.

They had GSW down 3-1 and may have been the best team if he stayed. GSW lost Barnes. KD went to GSW because he didn't want to leave it up to chance...not because OKC couldn't compete.

And because he wanted to play with those folks in that system, not Russ.

If they beat GS, do they beat Cleveland?

2 other variables with Clyde the Glide. He had familiarity with Houston and Olajuwon. Remember he played college with Hakeem the DREAM for the Houston Cougars. Durant has no relationship with Oakland not the warriors players. The other thing is if Jordan didn't retire the first time after his father's death it's unlikely Drexler would be joining a Champion. Those Bull teams would have throttled the Rockets. Im far from a Jordan fan but that's just the truth. So Drexlers ring chase was more about timing than who he joined imho.

In 1994, yes. I think they lose to Drexler's Rockets without Horace Grant in 1995.

You gotta give Bron a rest but I thought that was a time to really try and get a lead. Didn't like that he took him out
