My grandpa’s first cousins was in France and Germany during WWII. Only thing the guy ever said to me about the war was he was lucky. Frost bite on both feet and a couple of wounds. (D-day, the Black Forest (I could be wrong), and battle of the bulge)
Wife’s grandfather was dirt poor from Oklahoma and in the pacific theater. He was a mechanic and rescue guy.
