That's racist!

April O'Neill was black/mixed race in the original comics. I am a huge TMNT fan. IDK why they made her a red-headed white. If they did it for racist reasons, that's really disappointing. They probably just did it for audience appeal.

Who cares? Minority groups that want representation care. I care enough to say representation matters. I don't care enough to become an outrage machine, because I can't fault them for trying to appeal to the largest audience. It's pretty lame, and it's 1,000x lamer when you are the richest man in the world, in a country that's still run largely by white men, and white is still the majority, and you are this threatened by this nothing burger. What could it mean?

I was a big TMNT fan as well in junior high. Eastman and Laird? Drew them I think. I dont remember what they were called but they had some books that were comic books except thicker, and the artwork was amazing for back then. Graphic novels maybe? My buddies and I used to practice drawing them so we could duplicate them pretty well on white paper. Raphael will always be my favorite. Him and Wolverine were the badazzes back in the day.

The context is the post you responded to. Stefan Molyneaux.

Some producers actually want to make art too. It's like you guys have no idea how Hollywood works. Not everything is about making money. The bosses love to pay for prestige over $. You ever heard "one for us and one for them?" Probably not, but if you never heard that then I am right and you know next to nothing about the dynamics movie industry. And it's not a foregone conclusion that it hurts the box office. If the movie is great, you might have two woke people seeing it twice for every crybaby who stays home.

You think you're saying sonething by "enough stinkers in a row and...."

That's regardless of the politics at play.
And I do not know why you did not understand what "stupid take" meant, but obviously something seems to have missed. But you are right, I do not know know who he is and based on what he said doesn't seem to be worth knowing.

I have zero idea what you mean by "You think you're saying..." Where did that come from? You conflate different posters?

"Guarantee if the studios or investors in Nolan's movies start losing money, his opportunities to create "art" will decrease significantly."

Well you quoted something else. This is in fact what I said. And while, it is always within the realm of possibility he could turn out money-losing stinkers in perpetuity without consequence, I doubt it. I would even hazard that it could affect his lifestyle.

Yeah, my point is that he can't make a bunch of stinkers in a row regardless of controversial casting choices. If the movie sucks independent of those choices, that's the actual problem.

Lots of schools don't assign those in full, especially the Iliad, and lots of the versions read in middle school are abridged versions
Including Yale? I can understand some ghetto inner city school in a large city not reading it but she said she never heard about it in college either. Just ignorant.

She went to school in Kenya and then Mexico growing up. I don't think most colleges are assigning Homer readings nor are most students really talking about it. Duke for example didn't really assign or talk about Homer in most classes

I never got the fascination for Sandra Bullock, either. Hard pass.

Julia Roberts was on another level.

Sandra isnt a supermodel, shes "girl next door" pretty. Most of the cheerleaders in HS were about as pretty as her. She just comes across as a sweet person IMO. The girl you marry, not the hot model chick. My wife used to get told she looks like Julia Roberts when she was young. She has the same wide 80 tooth smile and long curly hair. Pretty woman era Julia was amazing. Mystic Pizza too.
