It's not too comforting to think that the person cutting into the deepest parts of your body aren't the best and brightest but instead who were chosen based upon other factors

Not really a good comparison. They work for their constituents and not the HoR.

They shouldn't have been expelled.

I don't think they should have been expelled either. There are rules however and you would have to agree that there is a line where some behavior crosses a line where it is appropriate. I don't believe that line was crossed here though. I think they should have been severely neutered though.

No, I think there are legitimate reasons to remove a legislator. Corruption, convicted of a felony for example are legitimate reasons for removal. IMO what they did didn't warrant expulsion, remove them from committees and censure would have been appropriate.

In the 2024 election cycle the same people cheering on the expulsions today will freak out about Repubs once again only getting 10% of the black vote at a time where whites are falling below 50% of the population. They will say that Dems buy the black vote with programs and giveaways and will never remember that that this action sent a strong message to the black community that they aren't welcome as a Repub.

Thanks Repubs. While you're at it can you keep demonizing Asians and Hispanics?
