I'm so glad we have the Lollipop Guild of Gators to educate us on all things football. Geez what would we ever do without their vast knowledge? This is getting just stupid

Actually, I don't think it mattered. Kiffin's 9th grade ego is so easily appealed to that he'd have taken that job if the death penalty was announced the week before.

you'd think your coach wasn't one of the biggest dbags in sports. this is really funny.

Haven't you heard? LG is all-knowing

I know that Kiffin was an empty suit making empty promises, that his enthusiasm for being at UT was to some degree or another feigned, that the moment he deicded to take another job he on the one hand thanked UT for all of its support while with the other he and his folks intentionally set out to nab some of your best recruits for his new gig.

Struggling to comperehend why your disdain for Meyer, even if it were completely justified in every respect, has anything to do with making Kiffin a better coach.

if a guy with a 9th grade ego can win at the highest levels at florida why the hell can't one do it at USC?

... was a bullet.

I of course admit to a certain sense of smug self-satisfaction today. Trust me, all of your rival fans do. I must say, however, that I always thought that the Lane Train would chug out of Knoxville on the heels of either an NCAA mushroom cloud on the horizon or Kiffin finally saying something so ridiculous that Vols fans woke up and asked "Who, exactly, is this jerk?"

So we detractors were wrong. It wasn't his mouth that got him in trouble. Its his ego that is going to be his undoing.

Now, I realize that his sudden departure three weeks before signing day, and taking his bunch with him, is going to leave you in the lurch. It is going to suck for you, and mightily. But not forever.

If this little episode doesn't convince you of the fact that it is inevitable that Kiffin's swagger is going to be exposed for the empty rhetoric that it is, and probably much sooner than later, I don't know what would. Consider: He is leaving a place where he is revered as the attitude-driven saviour of a program hungry for change and improvement, and going to a place where everyone is sure he's an idiot. He's leaving a program that will give him unlimited resources to build a dynasty, to go run a dynasty everyone knows is on the brink of crisis.

This place? Upbeat and hopeful. That place? Beset with worry and people looking for the exits.

In the end, its Kiffin's ego, pure and simple, driving him to do this. But hey, someone was the president of Enron right before it imploded, right? Until the very last day, someone was buying stock in Pet Rocks, right?

So, as I take some delight this morning in realizing UT fans are now suddenly wide awake as to what a complete tool they hired, I take some solace in knowing that its only a matter of time, and probably a very short time, that UT fans will also realize that they've dodged a pretty nasty bullet.

except - whether you say we dodged a bullet or not - you do realized that the way and timing he left has crippled a university that was working on rebuilding for the next 3-4 years....essentially placing them in a position that may leave them similar to 90s UGA or early half of 2000s Bama

Well, its been three years or so and 11,000 posts. I'm going to go ahead and call it a day here.

I've enjoyed it and even met a couple of you in person, all nice folks. I've learned a lot about UT tradition and gotten some good insights from Vols fans on football and other sports. Enjoyed the banter back and forth and discussion of things unrelated to athletics or even to our respective universities.

I've not been to UT. Been to Vandy and even to MTSU, but never to Knoxville. If I get the chance when up that way, I think I'll take a look around.

The Volnation is a great venue and the folks that run it should be proud. Thanks for letting me a part of it for so long.

LG,

Please stand by your words and take your sanctimonious arse back to the double wide, crank up some Steely Dan, and bang it out with one of your jort wearing pals.

Sincerely,

VolNation

Instead, I'll enjoy a fine steak dinner Friday night with my new goregous young lady friend, who is 15 years my junior, savoring the view of the Gulf Coast at a fine restaurant, before heading off to the Steven Wright show in Clearwater.

But if it makes you feel better I promise to listen to some SD on the way over.

what sc fans are unhappy? i haven't seen it.

Some are pro, some are con, some like the staff and hope Kiffin can keep his mouth shut. Here are a few negative ones from an SC board:

"Worst possible hire USC could make"

"I am in disbelief at how the school chose to **** itself in the ass getting the dirtiest coach in college football to a program with looming NCAA sanctions."

"I hope I am wrong but I don’t think the Kiffin era will end well"

I just can't figure out how some rival fan would think it would be copacetic to come over here and make such a post the day after an atomic bomb was dropped on the Tennessee football program. Lawgator is one of those guys that would make a comment about the dangers of parachuting to a friend and if the friend later died in a parachuting accident, he'd show up at the funeral and let everyone know he warned him.

If you had any sort of respect for the board on which you've logged 17,000 posts, you'd stay the hell away for a few days.

Now see, I don't understand why a post like this doesn't earn the fellow 3 days off.

You showed up the morning after Kiffin set our program on fire to gloat about it and wag your finger at us. Everybody on this site ought to have a fair opportunity to tell you what a miserable cockknocking turdburgler you are.

you're poking a stick at a punch of angry and upset fans who currently feel both hurt and betrayed

....what kind of responses did you expect to get if you kept going?

How much does a three day date go for down in FL?
