I never once said Clawson had done a good or even DECENT job, baby. Maybe you should read the posts again. I am just amazed that people are looking past the HC in this situation. It all stems from the top. Clawson obviously wasn't the answer - but no one can be the answer while Fulmer is our HC.

Even with Cutcliffe at OC we'd be no better than .500 after this game.

I think Fulmer forced him to start Crompton in those games and this I will blame Fulmer.

Wins against Florida and Georgia and Alabama etc. etc. would have us undefeated. What a dumb argument.

Clawson didn't block on a punt against UCLA or make Kevin Craft look like a heisman hopeful in the 2nd half. He also didn't kick field goals or choose to leave Crompton in.

I was optomistic about Clawson coming in, not so optomistic any more. In a perfect world he should get another year. Bottom line is this offense has taken a huge step backward, partly because of the QB situation, partly because of this new scheme. Neither have me very impressed or hopeful.

Clawson does not execute the plays called but... he is responsible for team discipline on the O side of the ball. That said... he has not done his job.

This offensive line is much worse running the ball this year, I can't help but think Clawsons new scheme flipping players has a big part to play in this.

It all boils down to having your team prepared and knowing who can do what. It is obvious to me that on way too many levels he did not identify the problem areas going into the season.

We cannot run the ball to save our lives and are having to depend on a young QB to get it done. When that happens the outcome is usually what we see this happening to us this year.

What? The offense has slowly and steadily sucked worse and worse at running the ball this decade. It's not a trend starting this year.

You are correct but the dropoff from last year to this year is the most significant I have seen. This year our running game is practically nonexistent.

It was pretty non-existent in a several games last year. At this point I'd say its about the same - but we actually had a passing game to help open up the run last year... so I don't think it got worse this year.

no but Clawson's new scheme obviously hasn't helped

we we're averging 10 points a game in SEC play and we just put up a whopping 9, and only 7 of those we're directly attributable to the offense

You are correct about there being a lack of consistency in the passing game but as far as the offense goes it's hard for me to tell if it's the chicken or the egg. They are both equally pathetic and one can't feed off the other.

Personell is close to equal except for QB. All you need is a guy who can manage the game and not lose it for you if you can run the ball.

More than likely Phil does have a hand in play calling. How much - we won't know. But yes, the UCLA game was a debacle.

This is what is confusing to me. I've heard two different stories about this from two different "insiders". One says Fulmer let Clawson run it his way, the other says Fulmer keeps him on a short leash.

Is it not the head coach's job to make the necessary adjustments if the chosen coordinators can't do it?? Where does the buck stop?? Apparently WAY before it gets to Phil b/c he's still around.

Have you guys not figured the UCLA game out yet? They made us throw! They loaded the box after they realized we couldn't throw effectively. Incomplete passes equal more possessions for your team because the clock stops. Get over it. We don't have the same athletes as teams in the SEC. With Stevens prepared we probably beat UCLA and Auburn, but that is neither here nor there now. It is what it is, and it is not enough talent to compete...regardless of coaching!
