Thanks Coach for your dedication to the program and positives you have brought. I wish you and your family nothing but success in your future endeavors. I will be keeping up with Duke from know on.

I agree. After the way he was treated at Ole Miss and his subsequent health problems, I'm glad he is getting another shot.

I certainly wish him well, but dedication is too much. He coached college kids in a game, left for the first HC job offered, came back after getting the hammer, then left again for the first job offered. Dedication doesn't seem to fit. Adequately performing a job for which his salary was obscene seems more fitting to me.

Not exactly true. Supposedly he was offered the Kentucky job in the mid 90s.

I think you're right, but my point remains the same. I just don't view the coaching lot as this dedicated crew to be idolized.

It's a mercenary profession for sure. At least he never really made any bones about the fact that he wanted to be a head coach again though. We all knew this day was coming.

Yeah, thanks for the great performance in the SEC Championship game, save for the 50 yard opening drive TD, your offense was pathetic against a wounded and beatup LSU defense ripe to be gored. Your brilliant play calling will be sorely missed. With your great recruiting at Ole Miss you were fortunate you were let go when you were as that program was in a death spiral.

Thanks Coach Cutcliffe for coming in and saving Fulmer's rear end for a couple of more years and postponing the inevitable.

he did his thing well enough to move on and I congratulate him for that and wish him well. I'm just not going to gush over the job he did or how hard he worked, because neither aspect seemed very noteworthy to me.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I've never been convinced that he was the guru that some think, but at the very least he was able to stabilize things for us offensively. While he drove us crazy with some playcalls, clearly the offense is in a better place now than when he came back 2 years ago.

I definitely think he helped discipline and focus across the board. That aspect will be missed to some degree. He helped Ainge without a doubt, but followed that up by never trusting him to make a decision with the football in his hands.

It will be fun to see if the next guy can add another 10 ppg to our offense like you did. I doubt it, but apparently some think otherwise.

If they are right, look for us averaging 40+ next season, Coach, assuming CPF simply listens to the experts here. Never mind there is little to no agreement among them on who will we should hire... and goodness forbid what comments will come from someone who fails to put up 40 ppg. I'm sure you'll miss all the fuss.

Anyhow, at least Coach Steve Spurrier, who I understand Duke consulted, thinks you're good, so that's not bad.

Happy Holidays, Coach! You've earned it.

Let's see where to begin.

1. Going up from being the most pathetic offense in the conference hardly merits any comment at all. It's like telling Stalin that at least he wasn't Hitler.

2. There will be no agreement on who to hire, but there is very clear agreement that there are several who could do an equal or better job.

3. Putting words in Spurrier's mouth is about your speed. He's one of the most creative offensive minds in the history of the game and you think he was pulling for CDC. If so, it was by default because of the lack of candidates who might actually take the job.

4. If what I've seen is earning it, there is a low threshold to becoming HC at Duke.

Ask Ted Roof how hard it is to get the job
