For recruiting Lofton. I was no fan of BuzzBall, but Chris will be missed as much as Manning IMO.

We are not posting on the Cols Forums, but rather VOLNation.

Lofton is better at his position in college than Peyton was. Before everyone freaks out, Lofton is better only because Peyton choked in big games. Lofton led his team to more championships.

I like them both, but don't compare them if you do not want to hear the truth.

No. And, if you want to look through all of my posts I am in no way a Manning-nite. However, that statement was absolutely ridiculous.

I believe this year would be Chris's and the teams only championship. Peyton also won one in 97.

Please elaborate. Manning won an SEC championship in 1997, and Lofton has now won an SEC championship in 2008. One is equal to one. What am I missing?

EDIT: wasn't paying attention, apparently, because FCVF beat me to exactly the same point.

Don't get me wrong, Lofton will be missed alot and he is probably the most important player that I can remember in UT B-Ball history. I love him so much, he will be missed.

But he is not even in Peyton's league. In my opinion Lofton will be a good, if not great NBA player. I mean no disrespect to him. But Peyton is one of the all time greats. Peyton is already be compared to the likes of joe montana, dan marino, ETC... Thats kind the of things was going on during his rookie year.

Lofton isn't even the best player coming out of his class. While Lofton is a great player he isn't anywhere near Payton in terms of greatness.

Lastly UT is a football school and while I and many others give Preal and his b-Ball program props. Football will always be more improtant. I don't mean any disrespect but is the truth. Peyton is the michael jordan of football. Lofton will never be that great. He will never be the lone standout in his profession. That isn't a bad thing tough because players like Lofton are very important to any championship team.

If Tennessee signs Scottie Hopson and Tyler Smith stays in school, Tennessee will be better next eason without Lofton.

1) If we win a national championship this year Lofton will have done more for this school than Peyton did.

2) Success AFTER leaving the school has NOTHING to do with what they accomplished here.

3) Football will always be more important to some people (mostly sidewalk alumni). Those who actually attend the school tend to support all of the sports the same. Or try to.

4) To people such as myself, basketball is #1.

5) Peyton isn't the lone standout in his profession.

Buzz would have had the right ingredients, but would have burned the cake if he would have stayed here with Tyler, Lofton, and Jamont Gordon.

We are supposedly (according to every recruiting service/source I have heard) leading for Hopson. Tony Jones said Tyler would return next year.
Well if we get Scotty than that'd be even better

We already have our true PG in Daniel West and have two 4* prospects in Jurick and Woolridge coming in for next season and with more playing time for Cameron Tatum we could very well start next season as the #2 team in the country.

We'd have 20-22 wins based on talent alone.

Absolutely. Not even Buzz could keep such a team (plus JaJuan Smith, lest we forget) out of the Sweet 16. Although Buzz was certainly in way over his head when he stepped into the SEC (and basically admitted as such, at one point - Coastal Carolina was much more his speed.)
