Just wanted to take a second to thank all of the Tennessee fans for a wonderful experience at the game yesterday.

My group drove down from Chicago Saturday morning arriving in Knoxville in the earlier afternoon. While driving around the stadium some Vols fans were kind enough to direct us to a grocery store where we could stock up for tailgating. We tailgated with other NIU fans at a church (Main & Poplar???) and didn't have any issues with rude fans. Walking to the stadium we talked with quite a few Vols fans who were more then friendly.

We sat in one of the endzones away from the main NIU section and openly rooted for NIU. The Vols fans playfully teased us but were very respectful. After the game we had fans shaking our hands and thanking us for making the trip. Some even gave us suggestions on where to go after the game (ended up in old city?? I believe it was called)

All in all it was a great time and experience. Amongst NIU fans there is often a big debate on playing these "payday" games versus playing "winnable" games at home. Personally I love taking on the big boys if not for just being able to travel and experience to some of the biggest football schools in the country.

Thanks again for the great trip!

Very classy post, and we are glad you all had a great time. You have a darn good team and we wish you much success the rest of the year. I, for one, will be keeping an eye on your remaining games and cheering for you all. Good luck.

Glad you had a great time. Your team kicked our butts everywhere but the scoreboard. I bet that made for a nice ride home. Best of luck.

it was only a long ride back because of the hangover I was nursing.

Would have loved to have helped you guys out with the win but I was very proud of the way NIU fought back in the 2nd half after getting down 10 quickly, especially with a lot of young guys at the skill positions.

I haven't seen an update on our QB who went down (Nicholson). It's one of the annoyances of being a crazed fan of a non BCS school in that it is harder to get that kind of information.

Thanks again and best of luck to you the rest of the year

Thank you as well from another Huskie fan. We had a great time in Knoxville and your fans are first class. I am sure you hate to hear this, but the only fans that match you guys were Alabama fans.

As far as the game goes, I am convinced that if we had a QB that could pass the ball in the second half that we would have won the game. Playing a 3rd and 4th string qb we can't pass (and your guys knew this) won't win a game. Both the defenses looked solid.

Our program does not take moral victories anymore. We are disappointed that we did not win.

Thank you for everything Vols!

No arguments here. As you can see, we are a bad, bad football team this year.

A bunch of Huskies were on the boat docked next to us. Even Victor E. Huskie (the mascot) and a couple cheerleaders were on the boat.

I saw those guys on a boat and was wondering if they brought a boat or were welcomed aboard by a neighborly Vol.

Wish I could have been there, but glad you had a good experience.

My favorite fans (other than UT):
1. Southern Miss (easily take the cake IMHO)
2. Clemson
3. Nebraska
4. Colorado (at the game)
5. Air Force

Worst Fans:
1. Florida
2. Florida State
3. UCLA (man I got treated like crap at the Rose Bowl this year!)
4. Nevada (UNR)
5. Colorado (after the game)

Awesome place to watch a game, huh?
Personally I like good end zone seats the best.

Thanks for being there.

Vol fans are some of the best you will ever meet anywhere.

Everyone calls it "Old City" now, it used to be called "Old Town" and some still do, a long time ago there was one beer bar there and then a girl opened "Annie's Place" which is called something else now and the place just caught fire and is now a very good gathering place with plenty of restaurants from which to choose and is not as crowded as "the strip" after a game and has a bit older crowd in attendance.

Congratulations on the fine play of your team, they came to win and didn't ever let up. Congrats also to you for your win over our arch rival Alabama a few years ago, that was great fun for us.:)

If you're going to be the best then you have to play the best.

NIU, it would have helped our cause, tremendously, if you guys had won. Glad you had a good time.

Speak for yourself, your cause and mine are not the same.

It was the latter. Most of the folks were parents/relatives of 2 players on the team.

Did you go; "mush you huskies??":shades:

I would have to throw Notre Dame fans on the Best and Worst list.

The older crowd (45 and up i'd say) were very classy, albeit passionate about their team.

The younger crowd were absolute pr*cks. They were the most arrogant , rude and offensive fans i've ever been around. (This was in South Bend in 2005). I witnessed a ridiculous amount of cursing, throwing drinks on Vol Fans and obscenities out the wazoo!!

But to the NIU Fan - - Thanks for bein classy. Hope your season goes well. Or at least better than ours has been!
