As much as we all want to bash BJ we need to thank him as well. He did bring a lot of good things to Tennessee, even if the wins were too far and between. He brought us out of the horrible DD and LK eras and brought stability and made the Tennessee brand relevant again. We will be back sooner than later. The foundation has been set now we raise the bar and Give our all to Tennessee.

I'll save my thanks for Josh Dobbs and a few others for making us relevant again. That's who we should be thanking, because it sure wasn't the coaching.

Well he talked Dobbs into coming here, along with many others who are going to be a solid foundation. It was time for a change, but I take no joy in it. When I find out we made a good hire, then I'll take some joy there.

Somebody had to take this job but no one was forced to take it. The program was in really bad shape and he has elevated it. It's not where we expect and we know that this is the ceiling for Butch, so we part ways with the guy. He's not Lane Kiffin, so let's not vilify the guy.

Agreed. Thank you Butch for the win last year against Florida in Neyland... that’s a day I’ll never forget.

yes, fans who supported him at all are going to look like fools when everything comes out in the next few days/weeks.

Not only a terrible coach, but a terrible person.

Once you find out what an assume Jones was... you'll change that to "Good Riddance "

Never said i wasn’t saying good riddance, only getting to the point that we’re adults and can thank him for the positives he actually had here in Knoxville.

Butch recruited Dobbs last minute. Butch took this dumpster fire and though he pissed it away, had us playing at a level we haven't seen. Butch did a lot of good. I'm glad he's gone, but let's keep it classy. In the end, it was his stubbornness to change and or allow others to do their job.

Butch helped lay a solid foundation. He came into a garbage situation and got it somewhat stable. Give credit where it's due in that regard. He just can't coach at this level. I'd love him at my High School though!

I am sure that Butch is relieved. I don’t wish any ill will on the man. He did his best and is just not a top tier coach. Let the healing begin and look forward to the future. Go Big Orange!

I seriously don't understand this line of reasoning.

He is not leaving us in good shape. There are horrible roster issues.

This narrative that he righted the ship seems to be based on everyone wanting to blame Dooley for Butch's shortcomings.

You know what, either put it out there or don't say anything. Senseless to pile on unless you have proof and say it. Facts are one thing, what you are doing is irrelevant and classless.

A lot of truth in this statement.

Bye Butch!

You took a hell of a lot of Tennessee's money, and ruined our Football Program, I hope you're happy, please coach anywhere but in any school in Tennessee, that includes our High Schools.

Guy doesn't even have another job yet and he's already trying to take our commits with him.

**** him and the donkey he rode down I-75 from Cincy to get here. Worst hire in SEC history.
