Well what they don't know won't hurt them.:) My teacher didn't say anything about it either, she knew it was a copy, she didn't care as long as I did the work.
and she's a conspirator or accomplice. Are you taking night classes at the local prison?

If anyone is the bad guy it is re textbook publishers. But continue to believe you know more than me about this.

they certainly aren't exempt, but if I can buy the book new from legit places outside of my campus bookstore for less than half of campus bookstore's price, I can't place sole blame on the publisher.

Edit: especially when I've seen markup prices at a handful of campus bookstores.

It's based on supply and demand in that market. I know. I do the amazon and half sales for my store. When UT isn't usig a book the online price goes way way down. When it is being used the price goes up.

I had a teacher that co-wrote a book for my grad courses that took his personal copy of the book to a local copy center and had them make copies of the information we needed and then sold them in a cheap paperback fashion with room for notes at the cheap price of $12. I didn't even have to buy a notebook for that class.

again the overblown spike doesn't make it right just because their is a high demand for it. If people were able to get the price at the amazon or half rate or close to it at the bookstore, they would and the bookstore would still make a profit.

but he can do that. I'm sure there is some copyright loophole for the authors. There ain't for VolWindy the C student.:)

Not enough of a profit to cover for the cost of the new books that bookstores take a loss on half the time.

the biggest problem with campus bookstores are the amount of books the bookstore has to eat. That however, is not the consumer's fault.

That is the teachers fault. But it is a business like any other. If they are taking losses on new books they have to make up for it in other ways.
