Texas University = TU?

This show set in the 80's had a guy wearing a "Texas University" shirt. Did they used to say it that way?

Anytime they refer to UT, I say "Oh, when were you in Knoxville?" I think someone used that line in "The Flight of the Intruder".

That other thing they use looks more like the diagram of a female reproductive system......at least that is the A&M view.

There was an April Fool’s news report about the cattle suing our Vols for the rights to “UT”. Then years later it came to be. Anyone with any cents wood steer clear of Texas.

I recall many years ago when Bob Kesling was the sports anchor at WBIR Channel 10, he did a similar April Fools spoof saying that Texas was suing us over our use of the color orange and we would have to change our colors to red, white and blue and call ourselves the Patriots.

I didn't think it was funny.

Right after graduating from UT I moved out to Arlington, TX. Out of habit I’d say I graduated from UT and the people out there would say, “Oh, you’re a Longhorn!” I would always reply, “No, that’s little u, little t. I went to big U, big T.” They loved that in Texas.

I'd call it the Original UT since we are the original, almost a hundred years before the UT Texas existed

of course not, Bob isn't funny, factual, or functionally literate when it comes to our player's names. No idea how he has the job for football, he does decent at basketball.

FYI, Aggies never refer to them as UT, it is always tu (purposely small case). The Aggie fight song refers to them as Texas University and there is a long standing argument that that was actually the original name of the school.
