Texas A&M wants to hear from you

welcome to the SEC !!

one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Tennessee holds the NCAA record for being the only team in the history of collage football to go through a season ,Unbeaten-Untied and Un scored on.

I think it was more we were the last ones to do it (regular season that is, USC scored 2 TDs in the bowl game)

...also they (A&M) won the NC that year

Hey now! No need in putting all the facts in there. As Vol fans, we are allowed to add or delete information as we see fit...... it's in the NCAA rulebook <------ see what I did there.

It's pretty compact IMO, and avg sized compared to many other schools. Lsu isn't as compact, fla I agree with u, uga isnt as compact either iirc. Now compared to A&M which these thread is about our campus is very small. Compared to UTex we r a small campus, and also compared to many schools in TX. Just making sure they don't get a false idea of the campus.

Also I say it's compact because there is no room to grow out.

That's very true. In fact, there's several research facilities and other properties that are off campus. The hills make for a unique campus experience Imo.

University of Tennessee Athletics: Football

That link will take you to a site that will educate you on our stadium. The stadium is name after General Robert Neyland. Bear Bryant never defeated a Neyland coached team, and was said to have muttered at Neylands retirement banquet, “Thank God the old man finally retired.”
In 2004 against UF our attendance was just over 109,000.
you can go to this link University of Tennessee Athletics: Football to read about our new indoor football complex which should be completed in a couple of months.
You can also visit this site Tennessee Vols Traditions which will explain some of the traditions of Tennessee, like the volunteer navy and running thru the T.
Im sure most of these have been mentioned, but im to lazy to read thru all the pages.

- What are the best restaurants and attractions to visit when the Aggies are in Knoxville?
Calhoun's on the river, Downtown Grill, "THE STRIP" all some of my favs for gameday.

I would also strongly recommend checking out the Smokey Mountains Park.. One of the most beautiful places on this earth

- What are some of your game day traditions?

Make sure to check out the vol walk.. vol navy, and any real UT fan will welcome you at their tailgate.

- Who are your most famous/notable alumni?
There are to many to name in a single post here.. most famous beyond the football field would probably be Gov.Haslem at this point in time.

- What is the University of Tennessee most known for?
We welcome fans from everywhere with open arms, hospitality is our specialty(of course we have the occasional person who does not understand this and acts a little stupid).. UT has a number of outstanding programs, we work with places like ORNL to help the fight of keeping america free and safe.. we also have the "body farm" which is unique..

- What’s the most important thing you think Aggie fans need to know about the University of Tennessee? We are an extremely passionate people here in Knoxville.. very proud of our university and east TN. Football season never ends here, we simply have some breaks in the action and we look forward to many years and good relationships with the fans from A&M..

Welcome to the SEC, your gonna love it here :)

Great hearing from y'all.

Texas would be Tejas if it weren't for some Tennesseans.

And Tennessee Football would't be Tennessee Football if it weren't for a Texan. :hi:

When UT plays A&M, I think they'll be some fun games. Best of luck this year in the SEC East, and thank you for the Knoxville suggestions.

Reading a thread this long will take an Aggie well into football season and they'll miss the trip.

The real UT is recognized as a friendly place to come. Everything is done with a sportsmanship atmosphere. There will be lots of fun and the pre-game pageantry is what makes it special. Before and after the game, get out and see the area (Smokies, etc). On gameday, just enjoy the atmosphere and be part of it.

Dude, I hope you are not part of the tourism dept.

Its the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Gov Haslam didn't attend UT
The body farm is the best you could do? Really???

i understand about leaving ye olde steakhouse off, but the body farm is responsible for bringing thousand of murderers to justice, thanks to our scientific endeavours... it is no surprise to me that tennesseans would venture into this area of study before any other... its what we do... yes some aspects of forensics are considered gross but so is being a homicide investigator.. thanks to dr bass and his research and for patricia cornwell for writing the book that helped legitimize it

the following anecdote is from memory and some details may be off.. when dr bass first started out he discovered that when someone is strangled there is a tiny bone in your throat that is broken, a tiny sliver of a bone.. in the early eighties i believe, somewhere a man in east tennessee claimed that his wife or his brother maybe, cant remember, was killed in a fire at their home while he was away.. a family member pleaded with dr bass to investigate... they sifted through every inch of ash in the home until they found the bone he was looking for.. it was broken, he had strangled the victim and burned what he thought was the evidence... dr bass' testimony brought the man to justice

sorry I am not up to your standards.. Ye old steakhouse I have been to three times and was not impressed in the least.. I have had better steaks from IHOP... JMO

Soooo sorry for leaving great and national off of the name..

Haslem's think they own UT, I figured he would have went there. It is very interesting that he didn't. Thanks for the info.

Why knock the body farm? it helps the whole world in furthering forensics. Helps catch and put killers in jail. It is something I found the most interesting when I moved to the area, figured others might also.

1-i'm sure there have been a lot of new restaurants opened since i left knoxville 3 years ago but i always liked the old city area. Make sure to visit the devil's microphone when in town.

2-vol walk and tailgating on the river by calhoun's.

3-peyton manning!

4-football, ladies basketball, great education, beautiful scenery, awesome fans.

5-don't touch the rock!

ever!

Or, helped prosecute an innocent man. It's about 50/50 this day and age is it not? Cops planting evidence. Killing hurricane victims with bullets in their backs, etc.. You never know when money slides from hand to hand. No scruples. No morals. That bone in my neck has been broken for years. I was almost killed when I was younger by my 5th cousins brothers wifes brother. I lived. Bone is broken. Go figure.

You just trying to bump your post count with nonsense or you had a little to much to drink today?

I guess I need to bump my post count too, LOL.

I'm alive so I guess my tiny little bone isn't broken...yet.

How much longer depends on how mad my wife gets I guess.

And...YES...We ARE crazy.....
