To use your analogy....

Tamu is not ugly. They are both pretty hot. Texas is a total b**** who's rear end must be constantly kissed while she empties your wallet. Tamu is actually pretty nice and has been in a previous bad relationship, a victim of domestic violence who is finally get back her self esteem

Doing the non-geographical divisions puts UT in the same division as Auburn and Bama though. In a conference that has many storied rivalries, the Iron Bowl is very possible the most untouchable. There's literally a 0% chance that AU and Bama get split up.

I don't really know what to say. UT's schedule is so perfect the way it is now, I just hate to see it messed up over such a blatant money grab, but that's just the way of the world I suppose. We're going to lose a yearly series with somebody no matter what happens, be it Bama, UF, UGA, UK or Vandy. I love all those games, Vandy and UK for no other reason than that we beat them almost every year, and IMO they aren't worth sacrificing for a little extra cash and an occasional meeting with A&M or Mizzou or whoever else ends up in the SEC.

Don't forget Texas' part in this. The pundits have been saying for a year now that Texas wants to go independent, but they didn't want to be the school that destroyed the Big 12. A&M has Texas' blessings in this. Texas wants to have their own network like ND, and A&M is just trying to cover it's bases when the league folds........which it will someday. Expansion is coming, and not just to the SEC. Conferences are just trying to vie for position rather than losing out when that happens.

so if we're talking non-geographical, then why not just move Miss and&or Miss St, those two pretty much have little to no ties to anyone in the division other than each other?

The official party line is that they want to save the Big 12 and do not want to be independent. I believe that independence is being considered though, and will become more likely once Notre Dame turns down Big 12 overtures.

The Thanksgiving thing is just rumor and speculation at this point, but it is being talked about locally.

Four schools you can count on NOT being in the SEC are Clemson, FSU, GT, and Louisville. The SEC schools in those states will band together and vote down any votes to admit them. And since nine votes are needed, it fails. As another poster said, the SEC already has footprints in those states.

Ok that makes sense. I'd much prefer that Bama moves over, though. I know it won't happen.

I'd actually be hoping for expansion if I knew it meant UT and Bama would be in the same division.

Because that ends the Bama series. In a 16 team conference they'll have to be in our division for us to get to play them each year, cause I don't see all the schools signing off on a locked cross-division opponent and only 1 rotating game. None of the other schools have that type of rivalry with the excpetion of UGA/AU That makes it so you hardly ever play the teams in the other division.

Moving Bama and Auburn to the east essentially creates one super division and another division that could just be called LSU v. The Field. Of course, given Les Miles unspeakably good fourtune, that's probably exactly how this will play out.

Completely agree. This will eventually effect all the BCS conferences. Should be interesting to see which school will be the next to defect from their conference.

Only way Bama and Auburn coming East would be fair is if the two teams that joined were Texas and Oklahoma.
