a removal from the Big12-2 by aTm is imminent. I think that's been discussed and accepted ad nauseum. The procedure for leaving has begun and their are clearly several steps involved. That too, has been discussed.

My realization throughout this whole process is that regardless of which direction we go, the hand of our BoR and President have been forced and its apparent that we are being painted in a negative light because of it. Is this the effect of a mass media program being in bed with a University? I think its possible. Is the LHN a good thing for college athletics? I'm certain its not.

All, let me repeat that, all major college athletic programs will suffer from that taking place. Not just schools in Texas. Not just aTm. Everyone. We've discussed that too.

Now to the point of us being painted in a negative light by every talking head at Espn. As it was said yesterday, we're "middle of the pack in our own conference". We're "also rans and always have been." We're "entitled, and arrogant." So on and so forth.

Correct me if I'm wrong but all of those comments are being made while clips of our football team are being played on the screen. Just football. My question is this. If we're "middle of the pack and also rans in our conference", wtf are we ranked 9th in the fn nation currently? Furthermore, did we not just go to our 6th consecutive NCAA Men's tourney? Did we not just get back from Omaha? Did we not just play recently for the Softball NC? Did we not just win the Women's NCAA NC?
Track 3peat NC? Golf NC?

At this point, its a matter of time. I'm less certain that we will merely only consider leaving for the SEC. I'd rather go there than anywhere though. I am certain however, we're out of the Big12-2 before next football season.

As the events continue to unfold, we will continue to be blasted by the media, and that's tough to swallow. Posters on message boards will continue to do what they do best, and "poor aggy" will be the theme across the board. I get that. Dont be misled though. The machine in Bristol is only in favor of protecting their investment, and if you rock the boat, this is what you get. None of you are immune.

As for me, I'll stick around and face whatever comes right here amongst the few friends I have come to know over the last couple of years. If I end up with crow on my plate, so be it. I doubt it will happen though.

Hopefully we'll see you all soon in College Station.

It seems to me that the tools at ESPN are blasting the Ags, while everyone else is blasting Texas.

I think ESPN's acting like a load of scared children because their LHN investment is proving to be a major bust.

I'm sorry, but I'm no longer concerned about who comes with us. I just want out. With that being said, thats a lot of damn Tigers in one conference.

Don't let the negative press get you down...in 20 years you all will be known as the team that changed college football forever. In a good way (since we will be playing in a small playoff).

So you'd stay in a conference that is being monopolized financially by a single school and their affiliation with a television network?

I don't know if I would or I wouldn't, but I'm not reading about anyone at Kansas State or Baylor saying they are being "forced" to go to another conference.

K State and Baylor can't really argue that they don't benefit greatly from Texas's largesse. I'm not saying that A&M doesn't as well, but they certainly have enough clout to arguably make more without Texas's involvement.

What market does Waco and Manhattan add? How well do their fans travel? How successful are all of their programs currently? What revenue will they bring to another conference? What do they have to gain elsewhere that will be more than what they currently get sticking with the d-bags in Austin?


Please feel free to elaborate on any of those.

I'm not very familiar with the particulars of the Big 12. According to wikipedia, "The 2011 annual meeting of the conference resulted in a distribution of 76 percent equal allotment and 24 percent based on television appearances." On its face that doesn't seem so onerous to me.

If you want to go down the fairness road, one can almost as easily criticize revenue-sharing in the SEC. Is it "fair" that Vanderbilt gets as much money as Florida, when they don't even try to field a competitive football team?

You complain about being cast in a negative light, but what do you really expect? You get your feelings hurt about Texas having more media clout than you do, act as if your hand has been forced by the LHN, and then go around the country essentially begging for a handout from the best football conference in the nation? How are people really going to see that in a positive way?

That breakdown is no longer accurate since Texas now gets an extra 15 million per year that they don't split with anyone. Further, the Big XII doesn't have a contract like the SEC that guarantees that every game gets televised (with the exception of each team's PPV game). Texas and Oklahoma can go into every season knowing almost every game will get televised; Baylor and Iowa State don't have that luxury.

How are they not? Nothing points out more obviously that they are a second rate program than their TV contract situation. They aren't even in the SEC's geographical footprint, and bring very little more than a headache to the conference. They want all the good that comes with being in the SEC but have very little to offer in return.

I don't blame TAMU one bit for wanting to jump ship. If that were our beloved Vols and they were put in a similar situation, I'd be begging to leave because obviously the conference doesn't care. Plus it's a no brainer, SEC football is King.

But how does the new TV network hurt A&M competitively? Texas already gets basically every single player out of your state that they want. They have junior day, they offer 25 guys, they get 25 commitments. They can't dominate Texas recruiting any more than they already do. So why does the money mater, other than as a symbol of how everybody in the conference is an also-ran?

The good news for A&M is Texas only has so many spots and the state is rich with football talent so even taking their left overs isnt that bad (well Oklahomas left overs too i guess) :p
