Find it hard to believe they have never been pre-season #1 before. In 63 they were NCs and undefeated, would have thought they would have been favored in 64. Same in 69 heading into the 1970 season.

First pre-season #1 to ever be an underdog in the opening game against tOSU.

From Sports Talk in Chattanooga.

The folks in Texas are sticking their chests out pretty good these days.

While I have an absolute loathing for the Buckeyes, it would not break my heart for Texas to get humbled in week 1.
Considering all their resources (money, tradition, in-state recruiting, facilities and oh did I say money} one can make the case that since they have 1 Nattie since 1969 they are the most underacieving program in college football. And second would be their in state friends the Aggies who havent won a Nattie since 1939.

With UGA and Michigan's recent sustained success, I think the title of most underachieving program of all-time pretty clearly goes to A&M.

A&M, with all their resources, isn't even inside the top 15 on the all-time wins list. They're even worse in all-time winning % (25%).

Whether we like it or not, Texas is loaded . They are in the top 10 of every position group in the country except Oline (#26). Arch is a Heisman candidate and Sark can coach football. I hope they blast THE Osu, (take the points) Plus Florida and Uga. Barring a rash of injuries, especially at QB, Texas is in the semifinals of the CFP. It is what it is.

Texas at OSU and Gawgia. They gonna lose one or both.

Gay Ron Teed.
Texas will beat both i think. They are better on both sides of the ball this seasonthan both teams. Ohio State while talented just lost way too much from last year. Georgia has some questions as well and their QB is Gunner Stockton i’m not sold on him and their defense has fallen off some from recent years of being elite. Georgia does get Texas in Athens but Georgia is due a loss at home and i think Texas goes in there and beats them, Bama might as well. I do think Arch is gonna be the real deal. It pains me to say it but Texas is probaly winning the whole thing this year.

Good points but still the Aggies arent even the premier program in their own state. Red headed stepchild to the shorthorns.

You're right, not the premier program in their own state, but even despite that they've still badly underachieved as a program.

Auburn is also not the premier program in their state, is in a much smaller (and less rich) state, and shares their state with the most successful program of all-time, yet is a more successful program historically than A&M.

Georgia still has one major liability. Mike Bobo.
