Texans @ Broncos

They did lose to the Texans and Falcons, two Superbowl contenders. I also think they will go no huddle more often now.

And Peyton has a bit of responsibility for the defense not being stellar. The last two games the first half has been filled with three and outs. That doesn't excuse Porter for being outright burned twice.

Two best teams in the league right now. The Broncos will be fine, everyone is 1-2 or 2-1 and no one is great in that division.

I plan on rewatching that hit some time. I don't remember it being as violent as people are describing it. He didn't launch at his head, it was a hard upper torso hit, and when he lifted up as Schaub was coming down, he ripped the helmet off. May be biased, but I believe we are calling it illegal because it was a violent hit. But violent hits aren't illegal, just hits to the head, launching, driving, and going for the legs. If Eric Berry
would have hit Drew Brees violently, he
wouldn't look like a fool celebrating after
Brees slipped the ball out for a first down.

edit: I wouldn't call it a cheap shot.

Leading with your helmet isn't cheap?

Not really. Leading with the top of your helmet is bad form. And using your helmet to earhole another helmet is cheap. But a facemask to chest hit is not dirty. It's kind of likely if you practice good form. Drop your hips, back straight, head up. Make contact and explode with the legs. Except when he exploded, he took Schaub's head off. It's fairly impossible to get your head completely out of the way. But as long as it's facemask to facemask, I won't call it dirty.

It's illegal based off NFL rules. But 10 years ago, that's an attaboy. Not dirty, nor bad form. Just an explosive hit. Football is a brutal sport. I'd rather see it banned than keep softening it up.

His ear is ****ed because his helmet got ripped off.

Manning played horrible in the first half against ATL. 3 pics put the D in a bind for sure. He didn't play especially well vs Houston either but there where some well thrown balls that were flat out dropped by wide open WRs. All in all you can tell he is still conning off the neck surgery and learning to hell with a new team.

Because of a player leading with his helmet, which by the way is illegal.

He didn't lead with his helmet. He uppercutted him with his helmet (really facemask on facemask), when he exploded after contact. That's just physics when you are moving as fast as he was. It's illegal because of contact with the helmet. Not leading with the helmet. You can slap a QB in the helmet and get a flag (which has happened plenty), doesn't make it dirty. The risk of Schaub getting a concussion there is minimal as it is a facemask hit which will absorb a lot more shock than an earhole hit. He's more at risk from the fall if anything.

Again, I'm not arguing it's not illegal. But certainly not dirty. Just because a hit is violent doesn't make it dirty. And when a QB is hanging in a pocket like that, facing the defenders in his grill, and still decides to throw it down field, instead of getting down (ala Manning or Brady), I hope he takes a violent (not dirty) hit. So he decides not to do that next play. It was only illegal because of the contact after the initial hit to the helmet.
