Terrence Cody.....Overated!!!!!!!!

What I would do is make a lane wider than Mt. Cody, and chop his ass on every play. Zone blocking is actually what will make Mt. Cody ineffective. If we can blindside block Cody, there will be holes in the backfield.
Chop blocks are illegal. Cut blocks from the front are not. I promise you they'll try to cut Cody as much as possible. Not going to win many one on one's trying to block Cody high.

DTs can't be judged by stats. It about ability to clog the lane and force double teams especially when Bama is in the 3-4. Dan Williams isn't even used the same way in our D. Take off the glases

Make no mistake Cody is a great part of our D-Line but he is not the only part...Crompton will find this out.

interesting that a troll has a pro bama comment... what the problem troll aren't there enough people on the Bama boards that can type... so you have to visit the volnation just to have a discussion :hi:

The definition of a defensive tackle's responsibility depends on the scheme. In our Cover 2, Dan Williams is way better for our scheme, because he can rush the passer and stop the run, which rushing the passer is important in this scheme. Bama's generic 4-3 look needs a big fat nose tackle to help get pressure, because the blitzing bama does.

This.....two totally different schemes.

Bammer should have lost to USCe! Parole Tide's QB turned it over three times that I saw and looked lost at times. If you stop #22 and make mcelroy (whatever his name is!) throw it EB and company will win this one for us. Listening to Doug Matthews, he seems to think we matchup up better with Cheater U. then anyone they have played to date. Beating the Crimson Flow and ruining their season would be an excellant way to usher in the Kiffin era. I am a long time Vol fan and old enough to understand that beating Bammer ranks #1 on a true Vols wish list. The Turd nation has become a heated rivalry, but will never mean as much to me as beating those cheaters from bammer : Around the bowl and down the hole roll tide roll!!!! GO VOLS IT'S BAMMER WEEK!!!!

Dance Mr. Cody!!

Don't they run a 3-4 mostly?

Mt Cody is used differently then Dan Williams so throw the stats out the window, they do not apply. Cody gets double teamed which allows for mismatches in run defense and pass defense. I do agree a no huddle with dinks and dunks not allowing subsitutions for their D is the right strategy. Controlling time of possesion and no huddle could lead to a W but, JC has to play mistake free football.

This.

I would take our Dan Williams any day over Mt. Cody. If you ask Monte Kiffin, he would tell you the same. Cody is an over weight line clogger who didn't go pro last year because, according to my sources, actually would have not been drafted higher than third round.

Look at the stats for this year (UT has only played 6 games, Bama 7):
Dan Williams: Tackles 29 (12 solo, 17 assists) 2TFL, 5 QB hurries
Terrence Cody: Tackles 15 (10 solos, 5 assists) 5 TFL, zero sacks zero QB hurries

If I were Lane/Chaney I would run a no huddle to keep this fat slow lineman in the game on passing situations. Bama's strength lies in their linebackers and not their DL, IMO.

I think Cody is a great player......Remember, he's a major clog stopper on the line......plus, he has 5 tackles for loss, pretty good IMO........he probably projects higher than Dan in the draft, I would guess, but I'm not sure in all honesty.......I love Dan, and i'm thrilled that he's on our team, but Cody is a very good player too, IMO....

So you want our defense on the field all night?

There is no NT in a 4-3 defense. Only 3-4 defenses have a NT. That's why he projects as a high draft pick because more & more NFL teams are switching to the 3-4, & line clogging fat ass DL are hard to find.

That is the only job of those guys, clog up the middle, take on double teams, & free up the linebackers to make all the plays.f they make a tackle, that's a bonus. Look at the Steelers, their LB's are constantly at the top of the league in tackles & sacks, & have been for years since they switched to a 3-4. A 3-4 also helps disguise where the blitz is coming from, i.e. the Ravens,Jets,Steelers.

Let's hope JC knows where they come from saturday.

If Nick and Kirby Smart are allowed substitutions it will be three and out. Unless our offense makes first downs our defense will be in for a long night. The offense dictates the tempo......not the defense.

My mistake about Bammer's D. I would not run it up the middle at all. Make Cody chase Hardesty or Brown, that'll tire him.

A No-huddle look would definitely wear Cody out. Now if Cromp Daddy can play like he did vs. Georgia, UT could possibly make a game out of it.

Bingo. If Grady Jackson still has a job in the NFL, you know that Cody is going to be a desirable commodity.

Utter nonsense. Do me a favor. Come back on here after the game Saturday and let's see how well the game turned out for you. See you in Tuscaloosa.

Crompton is the sorriest excuse for a quarterback I have ever seen in my life from pee-wee to the NFL. He can't even hit a tailback in the flat. We are going to beat the living hell out of him like we did Garcia and Mallett. Cody will crush him.

See you at the game chumps

PS-I bet your second string QB Stephens has a low self esteem and is suicidal. He's playing behind the sorriest quarterback on earth and can't even get on the field.
