Does anyone know if there's going to be another website this year where fans can vote on all the different awards? If so, please let me know. Also, where can I find a list of all the finalists for the awards? Links would be much appreciated!

The guy is responsible almost single-handedly for preserving their undefeated season, at least to this point. I always tell people how grateful the Orange should be for Billy Ratliff in '98. If he wins it, I wouldn't disagree.

I don't think Berry will win the award, but he DEFINITELY should. His overall stats aren't what they were last year, which is due in VERY LARGE part to the fact that teams are downright afraid...no...terrified, to throw in his direction. He has 2 picks, 75 tackles (already eclipsing his total last year, and he has 1 game to go) and 6 passes broken up. This is with a miniscule amount of passes thrown in his direction. Eric Berry is the best safety in the country, and has been since his sopohmore year. He deserves the award this year more than anyone. Unfortunately, he won't get it because ESPN will fabricate more "facts" to make sure he gets screwed again.

I understand all that and I think Cody is good at taking up space, but I do not think because he does that he is deserving of the credit he gets.

No pass rush. He hardly plays on third downs. I know a lot of teams bring in speed guys to rush, but Cody has I think 2 QB hurries all year. He has no sacks. Not one! Yes, I would love to have him on my team, but I wouldn't trade Dan Williams for him. Dan Williams takes up space, requires double teams, yet still finds ways to get to the QB, and he is also one of the most agile DL and runs sideline to sideline better than any DL I have ever seen at UT (and there have been some good ones).

Very well put:lolabove::lolabove:

Note of Interest: Chubby Cody did block 2 kicks against TN. Give him credit.....However, give him very little credit because it has been proven again and again that there is very little chance he blocks those kicks with a kicker that kicks above the arm pits. (The perfect example of why we now have a walk-on kicking).

He will probably end up being another Woodson....Getting awards that he doesn't truly deserve. The awards SUCK.......Everyone already knows its about publicity and who the voters decide to push.

What he said:lolabove:
I have noticed that they throw the ball his direction very little as well and when they do he is usually right there for a breakup or immediate tackle. Hopefully he will get one more int. for about 20 yards. The extra yardage is so nobody can come back and screw him out of the record.

GO VOLS AND EB

"It's been proven again and again" That's some laboratory you spend your time in.

Let's spend a moment on the visual evidence itself.

As you can see, not only is Mt. Cody Pushing your blocker, helplessly toward the kicker, which would seem to contradict the idea he gets no push up front.

But plan B should be coming into focus.

If Mt. Cody doesn't get it, Julio, that would be number 8, who at this stage must be close to about 11 feet up, gets the privilege of Spoiling the party, and living on in infamy, in vol land.

I mean if were going to play what if.

I rest my case.

Your right about the kick being blocked regardless. It would have probably hit Cody in the head if he just stands there. I think that is a result of poor kicking more than anything else. This is whats interesting, if you watch the game, you can hear Gary Danielson comment on Lincoln's first kick. He said "if he doesn't get that thing higher than that he is going to get it blocked" and it happened just as he said it would. If you have it taped you can go back and see for yourself. I think he had 4 out of 5 kicks blocked over a 2-3 game stretch. It would be hard to place that on Cody's great skill or leaping ability. I will however give him credit for getting a good push on the first blocked kick.

You should be fair and give Lincoln at least half the credit (sorry Lincoln, I know your hurt)
Anyone that would not want TC on their roster is a fool...
Every coach wants a DT that takes up two blockers 90% of the time.
No one is saying he is not a good player and doesn't add to Alabama's team.
So it doesn't matter who is up for the award since Suh is going to win???

I do agree Suh will win though, he is a beast. :good!:
Suh is the best defensive lineman in the country hands down (in my opinion). He is the reason I think Nebraska may beat Texas in the championship (yes, I know, they have other good defensive players too). It's hard to believe a 300+ pound guy can move like that.

Cody isn't in a stats generating position. He's getting paid, literally, to absorb multiple blockers and play to a stalemate. He is why the linebackers look so good.

Posted via VolNation Mobile

From the bench? You must be kidding. Cody is playing less than a third of Bama's plays on defense. Berry plays 100% except when the game has already been decided.

The word here in Alabama is that Saban told Cody that when he could beat him (Saban) in the 40, he would play him in passing downs.

Cody's a fat guy that on national tv the commentators reported the Tide's defensive coaching staff does not let play on 3rd downs. If he gets an award we ought seek out the obesity clinics across the nation for the most athletic 400 pound 18 year olds and get them on scholly so they can play for us.

Great defensive linemen, in2008 was GRANTED for the season 0.5 or half a sack. If you like your DLs fat and can't get after a QB, he's your All American.

Baron has better stats than Berry.

So what?

Do you really watch Bama play, or do your eyes tend to drift to the team were playing?

When you have someone his size playing DT, like BPV said that is a linebackers dream. If you don't have to worry about fighting off blockers and you can run free to the ball that is all you can ask for. With that being said, when 3rd down (besides obvious short yardage) is such a passing down then why would you need him to free up the linebackers when they are already in pass coverage?

It's not all about stats folks

So true, in my career at MLB (played from freshman til senior year) the games where our D-Line made contact and blew up the offensive line were the games that the LB's had our career highs in tackles. Which is the whole point you free up your best tacklers to make tackles. I gurantee McClain and company appreciate Cody regardless of how good the mans stats are.

He did not block UT kicks. The balls were kicked into his boobs. This did however skyrocket him into national fame. I am sure this will not be lost on the NFL scouts though.

It's the VOL NATION LABORATORY!!! It's where you're currently getting your information. Must be a pretty good lab huh??

As far as your plan B: If the referenced kick was higher it would have cleared lard's finger tips, skimmed the 14" forehead of #8, and continued through the uprights.
