Terrell Owens attempted suicide

Didn't realize the guy had such a messed up life. He didn't find out who his dad was until he was 15. The only reason he found out was because the old man was living across the street and he told TO to quit hitting on his stepsister. That's F'ed up.
Isn't he from Alabama?

TO is basically saying "Oops, nothing happened . . . big misunderstanding. Haha. Sorry." And according to the publicist the entire police report was just wrong and made up.

Yeah, TO is from Alabama.

I'm not too worried about how the Cowboys will do... We got the Titans coming up. This obviously reaches beyond being any publicity stunt, and is what all other suicide attempts are; a cry for help on the highest level.

It's going to get ridiculous if he practices and plays.

When you think about it, this guy loves himself way too much to ever kill himself. So I don't think it was a suicide attempt either. Another publicity stunt? Maybe..

I can't believe I'm saying this, but after seeing the press conference, I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. He sounded completely credible and maybe even slightly embarassed. It sounds like he might have had a reaction to the medication and his assistant may have jumped to some conclusions with the police that she is now denying.

how can just one guy completely "own" the media like TO does??

It's rediculous

I'm with OWB on this one. As messed up and in love with himself as he is, I think even he realizes he wouldn't be able to look at himself in a mirror and listen to himself talk everyday if he was dead.

And yes, he'll practice tomorrow, play on Sunday, score two touchdowns, and Terrell Owens will be an inspiration to children everywhere about overcoming self-inflicted adversity.

Give a sh*t factor on TO is low. Would rather watch Vandy Volleyball then watch or listen to another hyped up TO report.

I tend to believe his story too. The police must also believe it or he would have been charged with attempted suicide and forced to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

I would like to request some of us to quit acting like we know Owens's personality. We see and know his public persona as he shows it. It doesn't mean he lives his outside life in the same way.

12 people told me that he is the same way behind closed doors.

Okay here is my reaction to all of this. First of in Texas it's not illegal to attempt suicide. What I find fishy about this story is his publicist. She called 911 worried about his health and said 30 some pills were missing and tried to get the pills out of his mouth. That is suppose to be a fact. Then today she is saying it wasn't a suicide attempt and it was a reaction to what he was taking. If that's true why was see trying to get pills out of his mouth and where are the other 30 missing pills? Fire/Rescue called for police on the scene after thier rapid assement. I was a firefighter/EMT for 8 years and rescue normaly doesn't call for police assistantance unless they feel it's need or there has been a crime of some type.

TO's press conferance sounded legit and honest but considering he postponed it twice and made it 2 hours later makes me think they had to "reherse" his speech before he mae it. Also usually police are quick to come clean to the public if it wasn't a crime or a suicide attempt. All they said it wasn't a crime commited, reference the fact it's NOT ILLEGAL to attempt suicide in Texas.

I honestly believe it was a suicide attempt or at the very least a media play to turn around TO's profile as the poor guy that had a hard life growing up and America should feel sorry for him. The guy needs mental help and I hope the Cowboys do everything possiable to get him the help he needs.

. . . What I meant was it was weird because I read the ESPN story a thought to myself "If I didn't know better, that sounds like what they do for somebody that tried to commit suicide." Then I came here and you had just posted an article saying the same thing.
that's what i thought when i heard the story break last night on the way home from work...then i wake up today, and it's all over the news about attempted suicide...weird...very fishy story...

i'd try and kill myself too if i had to play for the Cowboys.
That's funny. I'd try to kill Mark Brunell if he tried to throw me a football.

Considering there is no federal law against suicide (successful or not) and the only states that had any statutes against suicide, prior to 1990, were the Dakotas, Washington, New Jersey, Nevada, and Oklahoma, I doubt T.O. would have been charged with anything...since he was in Dallas, which is in Texas, and it is 2006, not prior to 1990.

Suicide is not a criminal act in any state in the U.S.

Perhaps one of the better lines to come out of this deal was from his publicist. She said, TO would not kill himself, "he has 25 million reason to live", referring to his contract. Maybe she should find a new occupation or he should find a new publicist.
