Let's hear it . For or against?

My friend proposed term limits to Rep. Cooper in an email. Cooper's response was that he was over nuclear weapons and that is not something you want to have the possibility of turning over every two years.
Scare tactic he proposed to a marine that guarded nuclear weapons during his service. Then the doofus retired.

Imo we don't need professional politicians. It was never designed to be a permanent occupation.

Yea, start with the supreme court. It's a no brainer.
Keep them in place so when congress/senate fights it they can throw out the lawsuit. Then the newly term limited congress/senate can screw them over .

Not sure if this will work but sure sounds good.

I against term limits for the house/senate, where we need term limits is in the federal judiciary.

If I had my way:

1. Congress would be limited to 90 days per year being in session. Take their current salary and pay 90 days. If they have to extend their session for any reason there is no pay for that.
2. Build dorms and a cafeteria for them to live in while in DC and congress is in session.
3. No healthcare benefits or pension, it’s a part time job.
4. 12 year term limit on all federal judge, staggered so no 1 POTUS could nominate more than a 1/3 or 1/4 of the judges. Get confirmed for a higher court or out on the street in 12.

No one gets more than 10 years.
Lower the salary.
Do away with the salary for life.
Requirement to purchase their own healthcare insurance like average citizens.
Enforced public hangings for insider trading.

Just my opinion.
Why limit public hangings only to insider trading? Bribery?

Term limits, 18 years max for representatives (9 terms) 18 for senators (3 terms)
20 year max for federal judges
Repeal the 17th Amendment
mandatory retirement at age 70 for all elected and appointed federal officials and judges
1 year minimum “cooling off” period before any term- limited or retired federal employee can join a lobbying firm
During that cooling off period, former representatives must live in the district they represented and senators must live in their respective state capital. As private citizens.
Once term-limited, you cannot run for another elected or appointed office at the federal level. If you wish to remain in politics, it is at the state level.

Term limits are symptom relief, not a cure..

Just abide by the 10th.

That's still too long. No more than a decade for any position. Period. Change the term measurements however you want to fit the decade.

Politics isn't (shouldn't be) a career.

Abide by the 10th and repeal the 17th and we’d be golden but the chances of either are about the same as Congress enacting term limits on themselves.
There will have to be a grass roots movement to get it on a ballot during a Presidential election year, so the people can vote on this. The greed and power hungry of DC will not allow it.

I don't appreciate big govt laws limiting my voting options and dictating who can represent my interests. Guess I'm not conservative enough though
