An excerpt.....

"There's no better in this business than Coach Jones. There's no one better anywhere in terms of creating a vision, how we're going to sell it and how creative we're going to be in selling it. With him, our recruiting department and a bunch of coaches who love what we do, we're non-stop at it. And we all know as coaches, to keep our jobs, to keep our houses, to keep doing what we love, to keep this great place going forward here, we need great players. So we can sit here and coach cover-2 and curl-flat all we want. If we don't have guys who can come in here and do that, it doesn't matter. To get this thing right, that's what we've got to sell kids."

The numbers are staggering; nearly 150 roster moves in 20 months. Approximately 22 players from the '12 roster who had eligibility remaining did not complete their collegiate careers at Tennessee. Some --- Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Darrington Sentimore --- never played a single down for Jones' Vols.

Wow the numbers really are staggering when taken from that standpoint.

"… said Azzanni, who's spurned multiple offers at other BCS-level programs to remain at UT"

multiple offers in one year? how many?
anyone know who these suitors were?

Not saying Azzanni doesn't want to be here, but as a receivers coach, it doesn't get any better than being at UT. He's got a gold mine to work with here, I wouldn't leave either.

I graduated from Knoxville in '79 and no way, no how, remember a UT team this young, this talented and this untested.

Jones HAD to purge the roster.. Band aids don't work in this case

Exactly! There's an old saying "We're torching the barn and killing the rats." That's pretty much what CBJ had to do. He had to blow that roster up almost completely and start from scratch.

Just no. They are not even honorable mentions. The rest of your list is pretty much crap as well, but I will hit the low hanging fruits here since I'm busy.

Should he be offered a promotion, so to speak, then he would leave. For instance, like Sal was offered at "O Bama". He was a linebacker coach, then Dooley offered him a promotion to O.C. and he took it.
He is probably getting good money for the position that he holds. He is in a major school, so why make a lateral move? It would have to be either (1) closer to home and the wife encourages him to leave here (2) a promotion

The coach we had in 2009 tried to do the same thing

Jerry Colquitt has no wins! Worley & Rick C. have more stats than Jerry Colquitt. Did he even complete a single pass in his only quarter of college football????

Shuler and Clausen should be higher, but its not my list...probably would have been better to stop at 10, digging deep for those last 5.....

Not sure the definition of "modem" but since you went to the 80's to dig up Alatorre, you should have gone a few more years for Streater and Holloway (both played in ancient 70's)
