I started a very similar thread to this one cause I believe we have a great chance of winning the the National Championship in 2016 but I left out all the dumb details you just mentioned cause you don't have a damn clue what it's going to be like in 2017. You're assuming we'll only win 8-9 games in 2017 and on out cause recruiting is slacking. Also there's plenty of good players Butch has recruited who's not legacy players like Hurd, Kamara, Tuttle, Dormady, Dobbs, I can name more. This thread proves on how much you know about football but I wouldn't have expected anything less from you. Nice job.

We lose a lot in 2017 (Dobbs, Hurd,Kamara, Sutton, JRM, Barnett, etc), so I don't think that's the year. But the idea that OP puts forth, that it's 2016 or bust, is ludicrous. 2016 is gonna be great, 2017 very good, 2018 likely special IMO.

The OP may not know that the competition has players that use up their eligibility as well.

That certainly wouldn't be the only thing he doesn't know. Our roster is strong and deep right now and the 2016 class is gonna do nothing but add to it. It'll be a talented class that will fill specific needs and be allowed to develop without being expected to get on the field early. We're in very good shape IMHO.

I was seven years old the first time in my lifetime the Vols won a national championship, fifty-four the second time. If the pattern holds, we're due in about 2045 (I'll be 101 years old).

Yes that is losing talent but have built depth
2016 schedule sets up favorably. Va Tech will be tough under Fuentes.

Yeah, Florida will take a step in 2016 and have a big jump in 2017.

UGA??? Who knows.

Mizzou hasn't recruited well.

Kentucky is on the fringe of being an 8 win team, none of which will ever comes against us under Butch
South Carolina is back to being who they are.

We will have a shot at greatness in 2016 and 2017. That's all we can really forecast right now...

Recruiting isn't taking a massive slide. Recruiting rankings are determined by a cumulative score value for all players in a signing class. This favors teams who sign a high quantity of players. It penalizes teams like Tennessee that have fewer scholarships to offer.

We over signed in each of the last two seasons. This limited the number of players we could sign this year. We're still landing high quality players. We're going to continue getting stronger.

I won't go as far as to say only chance, but if Butch fields another mediocre team next year, there's no reason to start expecting anything more. We have everything in place to be good next year. He isn't going to be able to come up with a valid excuse if he can't get it done.
