Not trying to be a Debbie Downer here but I'm waiting for them to beat Virginia Tech and (more importantly) Florida before getting excited about anything.

Truth! The best in game coaches / assistants would have won the east and double digit wins with this roster this yr. Hope they can be great but they have to earn my trust.

McElroy is the best analyst the SEC Network has going. Knowledgeable, well-spoken, prepared, unbiased. Has the makings of the next Herbstreit but with even less bias.

He is all of that but is also a bit of a dork

The TN bandwagon is going to look like Indian passenger train going into next season.

He's a Bammer. He wants to set the expectations so high so that if we don't meet them the peasants with pitch forks, negavols, Grudenites and trolls will run Butch out on a rail and lock in Saban's reign forever.

Or, he's a very bright guy who takes his job seriously and as such handles it in an honest, professional manner....unlike both Kanell and Galloway who are nothing more than anti-SEC hacks.

OK, what's the punch line?

Not one. That's the only thing that will keep Tennessee from going far next season, other than a catastrophic injury bug...

Injuries can derail at any time. Those could happen to any team. So I'm not planning on that.

Couldn't have said it better myself. And sadly he gets put on the back burner after Tebow comes back from his latest NFL tryout.

IMO I think we see some new faces in coaching between now and next season. I saw some frustration in Butches' eyes at several points during the season and if he truly did learn from the in game mistakes and how fragile a HC position is, he will adapt and overcome. Little indicators, like personally coaching WR and other coaches helping out position coaches tells me he sees a need for some change, so yeah, I think he's learned. Let's hope so.

They have to break in a new QB again, plus a RB

Bama is losing a ton of talent - a ton of talented players. Saban may turn it in after this season. I hope he stays so Butch can lay one on him. I am not worried about Florida - they had all their lucky breaks this season and their great defense is out of eligibility. Butch will do Saban a favor and take a knee to run out the clock instead of getting a meaningless TD just as Nick did this season. Texas A&M away may be the Vols' toughest game next year. There is a hungry talented team in Orange ready for a championship run in '16.
