Hello Vol Nation!

This should be a good game.Im a VT alum but Ive watched both Tenn and VT all year (My grandfather is a Tenn Alum) So we grew up watching the Vols but..Tennessee fans cant sit here with certainty and say that they are gonna beat VT pretty easily due to them being in the ACC?? Come on... Honestly the style of play VT does is more for the SEC. VT has been more relevant than Tenn has the past 10 years (17 consecutive bowl appearances.. 4, 10 Win seasons in a row, a BCS bowl win... but we can sit here and throw out stats of history but it wont justify anything for the game coming up. Im looking forward to a good game and if anyone has seen VT play they know this isnt a Clemson or GT. They win with rushing and defense. Good Luck!
Looking forward to a packed house of VT and Tenn fans..which will be about 50/50. VT travels really well and so does Tenn.

Welcome to the boards, don't worry about what people say with orange glasses on. This should be a really good game. I've been waiting a while to see it. I work with tons of hookie fans.

The difference between us and Va Tech is we have a much more balanced offense and Va Tech's rushing numbers are inflated by bad ACC defenses. Imagine what our rushing stats would be with an ACC schedule.

Bama racked up tons of yardage against this D....we will too. Crompton should have a big day after Hardesty runs on them.

I know really? Alabama, LSU, USC and others had much more reason to insult VT, but even they didn't anywhere close to this much.

You don't have the front 7 that Bama did. We have a power rushing team that couldn't get it done against Bamas front 7 so they controlled TOP. By the end of the 3rd quarter they already had the ball for more than 30 min of game clock. That is how they racked up so many yards.

We went up against the #2, #9 #15, #17, and #28 rushing defenses. Thats almost half of schedule in the top 30.

I will agree the balance of attack is more balanced for Tennessee but..Ryan Williams did just fine rushing and catching the ball against Alabama..plus this "inflated" stats comment is pure bogus if you've seen him run..hes a pure stud. Theres a reason why VT has dominated the ACC since they've been in it... Bama racked up tons of yards but that was also the first game and after they had already had the ball 28+ mins and couldnt do squat with it. Defenses get tired if the O is out of sync .. and GT racks up 200+ yards rushing on anyone.. they run the triple option.

Crompton wont have it as easy as you think I will tell you that.. were no Memphis where he threw 5 TDs.. Just like Tennessee , Virginia Tech also has a month to game plan for you and Bud Foster is one of the best D Cords in the country.. Its not going to be as easy as you think.

But, thats fine..get misconstrued by the fact VT plays in the ACC .. you will be shocked after the game.

I see..well even on the Hokie board ive stated this wont be an easy win for VT. I guess the fact that im a fan of both and know both it makes it easier for me to see the match up.

The ACC is a Joke...Your top 2 teams just got dominated by are bottom half...If the chokies were in the SEC they would be lucky to go .500....and in the Alabama game it was all about the depth in the 2nd half and tech proved they have zero depth and Alabama proved they were loaded (500 yds to 150 yds people lie numbers dont)

Hardesty should have a big day and so will Crompton. We held Florida's offense pretty well and I think we will do the same with the Hokies. THIS Will be a GREAT game and on a BIG spotlight. Probably on at almost every New Years Party this side of the Mississippi. Either way it will be good for both teams.

VT wins and they beat a solid SEC team, get some validity for their high rank and start a modern rivalry with TN. TN has little to lose when they are unranked.

TN wins and sends a message that it is back in a big way, MAybe cracks the top twenty five and starts a healthy modern day rivalry. VT loses litlle from this as TN will gain validity and well you know, ACC teams are supposed to lose to SEC teams. ;)

TN wins and it is a huge win for the VN to knock off a top 15 team.

I am not saying that I agree with anyone who says this will be an easy W for TN. I am saying this is a TN fan board. No need to tell the TN fans what they can and can't do on it.

Those sadly arent the top 2 teams in the ACC. IMO.
If the hokies were in the SEC they would be where Tennessee is right now in the SEC I feel around 5th. So you think we havent developed ANY depth since the first game of the season? :birgits_giggle:

I understand and I apologize if you thought I was trying to tell the Vol fan base one way or the other..but I also like to have a educated football convo about the game coming up ...thats all.

at least you admit that yall would finish .500...come on man JU JU is your back up and the Brookeville kid Logan Thomas has a long way to go to be a QB so no depth there...I will say David Wilson is the "truth" at least in high school but stienspring will find a way to mess things up for him

You couldnt be more right.. Juju isnt a solid backup but there is potential there and with Tyrod having another year left there is time.. and I dont even think Logan Thomas will be at the QB position next year he came in as the #1 TE in the country i expect him to play that position next year. David Wilson is a stud as well and Steinspring is a poor play caller but he has improved this year but I still would like him gone. I think steinspring is the reason we havent made that jump to a premiere team.

So is all this official? Tenn in the peach? I just read an article stating Georgia was hoping to get the nod for the peach..but Outback picked Auburn so Tenn goes to peach?

Pollsters beg to differ.

BCS has VT 12 and LSU 13
AP has VT 11 and LSU 15

LSU hasn't exactly set the world on fire this year themselves. I don't see how saying we are on their level this year is a ridiculous statement at all.
