If Bray plays

Tennessee 31
Vanderbilt 21

Another stat is that we have more "potential talent" than Vandy. It all looks good on paper......wish we played the game that way. Truth is, Franklin has them believing in themselves and has them playing with confidence, which is something we're not doing right now. Hope CDD lights a fire under the team this week......don't want to spend this holiday season bowl-less. Vandy, if they win, has an added bonus.....they knock us out of a bowl, and THEY become bowl eligible.....they have a lot to play for.

One other thought.......if Vandy wins, (and if you think they can't, your head is in a fog) will that defeat carry over to the KY game and we lose the last two?

Good research, OP. Here's to hoping a home field advantage actually means something this week

The difference in the game will be Rodgers using his legs to keep drives alive. If he's able to do that, they'll get a lot of first downs and keep the chains moving. I'd spy him the whole game, focus on the run, and make him beat us by slinging it around.

There's no way that's right. According to the other threads on here, Vandy is a juggernaut.

Honestly, with Bray in the whole team plays better. The Defense seems to lose steam and give up after it's clear the Offense can't do anything with the ball. If Bray plays, assuming he doesn't miss a beat, UT could end up blowing out Vandy. A whole lot of repressed frustration over the course of the season could come out against the Commodores.

This is what I'm hoping, regardless.

Nice breakdown. Obviously, stats are what they are and people base opinions off stats. The more I read down you analysis, the less comfort I had in seeing a TN victory over Vandy.

Vanderbilt's "Ball-hawking" secondary has 15 interceptions on the season.

14 came in their first 4 games:
2 vs. Elon
3 vs. UConn
5 vs. Ole Miss
4 vs. USC (Garcia at QB)

The hope of Bray returning, along with the history of the series with both Vandy and KY may give our guys enough of a boost to come out swinging... if Vandy takes it in the chops early they may revert to their old fears of doom.

We probably won't go to Commonwealth this year... that is the coldest place in the SEC late in the season, and I'm getting older now. But the Vols should take that game OK, depending of course, on whether we win the Vandy game.

What a season. Can't wait to read CDD's book about his first two years here.

The D needs to get some devastating hits on Rogers early and make his ass nervous all day.....hopefully they'll hit him hard enough to make him think twice about running. I'm thinking this is going to be the kind of game where our LBs actually play well and come up with some big plays.

While on the road this season Vanderbilt has been outscored in the second half of each ballgame 36-21.

If you take away the Florida game Vanderbilt has not scored in the second half on the road.
