The quality will improve once it fully finishes processing.

That is one entertaining defense! Love seeing the speed, gang tackling, discipline, and just overall quality of play.

I thought qb draw was open for them several times last week and wouldn't be surprised to see Ark St try it often with their more athletic qb.

AState did that quite a bit this past weekend vs Montana State. If there is one thing that concerns me, their QB running would be it.

Just watched it through......no technical analysis from me. but what strikes me is they seem to be much more disciplined, and more fundamentally sound on tackles.....and perhaps more energy then we have seen in recent years. I thankfully don't see the lolly gagging I have seen in the past, but they got to stay fresh this game, we'll see how that energy goes when that face a good running game and physical O-line. They will get that back to back in a couple of weeks.

I would love to see more confidence and that showing up in greater aggression, but not at the expense of discipline, and sound fundamentals. It's really clear they have had a good summer practice....not so sure we have lost that much as far as players. I like the line better here then last year. (so far...in one game)

Hard to say much of anything until week 3. But right now I see guys that appear to be at their assigned positions, and knowing where they are supposed to be.....and as simple as that sounds.....it's good to see that again. Hoping as they get more confidence they don't have to play with so much cushion.....

They set the edge on almost every play. It is a miracle. That is what I call coaching.

Not a lot of blitz or stunts. Keeping it very simple.

Gap control was okay. They focused more on the edge than the middle gaps.

Leverage and attack angles were much improved.

I love the aggression and intensity that our defense had the other night. The only thing that I am somewhat concerned about with that aggression is the numerous hits that could/should have been called for targeting Keeton. I think that I saw at least 3 to 4 hits to his head where I was anticipating a flag (luckily one never landed on the field). Was I the only one that saw them? Anyway, I'm curious to see if they happen again this week.

So I know it was Utah State, but when was the last time we saw our defensive front just own someone like that? They were active, aggressive, and dictated the entire game. Perhaps the most impressive part to me was the discipline while being that aggressive, I saw a couple of sacks/TFLs that came from guys staying in their rush lanes and playing with their heads up.

What I found interesting was listening to the USU players say we were running a base defense all night, they recognized our formations and still couldn't do anything about it. I think that speaks volumes about what the rest of the season holds for the D if we can keep the tackles healthy.

Defensive End speed was making a big difference. When the QB is hurried, it makes the secondary's job much easier. There's a reason the NFL pays a premium for defensive end pressure, and we had it coming from both sides. Hope we can keep it up against the SEC teams.

I believe they have tweaked that call. I believe it is a subjective call now with it being described as forceful contact to head.

I like the 3-3 front with the rover lineman. It looked like Weatherd played it some in the middle and someone else was doing it on the ends from time to time.
