OMG...Welcome back my friend, you have been missed.

Outstanding analysis as always my friend.

Our beloved Vols better get much better real fast or my lofty hopes for this season will come crashing down far too quickly.

The Battle at Bristol and VT isn't going to be easy either.

Team 120, still working hard to try to WIN respect and climb the rankings...VFL...GBO!!!

Semper Fidelis!

Thanks OMG...

"the ghost of The Gen'rul" - love it.

I thought the defense played OK. They didnt look as dominant as I'd hoped, but take away that TD off the muffed punt where they had so much emotional momentum and our defense was completely drained of theirs, and the score (and the game) would have looked better. Should a high quality defense be able to overcome that emotional momentum shift? Yes. But in the first quarter of the first game of the season - those are some long odds.

Hopefully what we saw will give the boys, and coaches :) a good swift kick in the pants and put some spring in their step and fire in their gut for next week. Hopefully. Even if not, its football time in Tennessee and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Clearly, you have a way with the language, OMG. I look forward to your scribblings as the season progresses.

BTW, my pop flew B-24s out of Italy with the 15th USAAF. :salute:

In the early days of this century, we had a quick and agile d-line, but Penn St and Nebraska got tired of running around after us, and just lined up and out pounded us and quick and agile wore down

I thought the Vols D lived up to the third maxim pretty well. They gave up too many yards early, but as it became clear the outcome was very much in doubt the defense put on "more steam" and shut App State down.

Other than that the game was frustrating and even embarrassing.

Thanks. I'll look for it. I've read The Wild Blue by Stephen Ambrose.
