I just got compared to the great Shelby Foote hisownself?

I will be damned.

No sir. You will rise into Heaven, and, resting in a patch of shade with a cool breeze blowing, you'll "gnaw the bone" with Shelby until remembered commitments to others draw you apart for a time. :hi:

The big difference between Tennessee and Alabama is, Tennessee's obsession with Alabama. Year Round! There seems to be a post everyday about Alabama football or about Saban. Your hatred has consumed you. On the other hand, Alabama hates the Vols, loves to kick Vol a$$, but for only one week a year. Tennessee is only a fond distant memory the other 51 weeks. Bama takes the season one game at a time with the ambition of playing and winning the National Championship while the Vols only dream of beating Bama. From an outside observer Butch isn't the coach that will take the Vols to the next level. I put him and Hugh Freeze in the same grouping, good coaches, but not great coaches and maybe willing to bend the rules to stay competitive? Wasn't Butch accused of the same kind of thing that got Baylor's coach fired? Just a thought...

During the reign of Sir Philip of Winchester, he did the same thing to the Tide and whipped that red butt regularly. He made Alabama just another game.

I feel Butch will get to that point but is still struggling against a decade or so of mediocrity. The Bama series is "streaky" and your turn will come. Get back to us when the Vols rip off eight straight or so in a few years.
