I went out to a local sports bar to watch the game. It was good to see these guys out there - especially the new guys in UT jerseys. It wasn't smooth - but it was still pretty to me. I love these basketvols.

Ill tell u what i got from the game...

1) Tennessee came out sluggish, didnt seem like they were even up for the game, Lofton only had like 8 points, Tyler Smith was non-existent, Duke Crews didnt play, JP Prince ofcourse didnt play and we still beat a tough Temple team by 17 points

2) Brian Williams will be the starter at some point this season, probably sooner than later

3) Cameron Tatum seemed a bit timid or maybe he was just a little antsy and wanted to do too much, but he settled down and had a nice drive to the basket where he scored and he got a few rebounds.. he is solid

4) Wayne Chism seems likes he's gotten a little tougher down low, had a couple of blocked shots and was aggressive at times around the rim

5) Ramar and Jajuan are the truth and Jajaun may be the best player on our team... seriously...

Overall i wasnt that impressed with the effort the entire game, but we showed spurts throughout the game in that we forced turnovers on our press... Once every thing starts to gel with the chemistry, JP gets eligible, Chris gets back to his normal self, Crews gets back, and we have a consistent rotation along with every guy giving their best effort i believe we will go a long way this year... Still too early to tell where we match up with the SEC and other top teams in the country but i like the position we are in right now beating a tough Temple team, id take this position any day over UK's and Michigan State's!!!!!!

THIS KIND OF POST IS THE NUTSO RANTS THAT DRIVES ME NUTS ON THIS BOARD.
1.YOU WERE NOT IMPRESSED WITH TYLER SMITH..HAVE YOU SEEN HIS STATS..DO YOU KNOW BASKETBALL..HE WILL MEAN MORE TO THE TEAM THIS YEAR THAN BRADSHAW LAST YEAR AND THAT IS A HUGE STATEMENT. OF COURSE CREWS AND PRINCE DIDNT PLAY.AND LOFTON HAD 10 ON AN AWFUL SHOOTING NIGHT BUT HE WAS 8 OF 8 FROM THE LINE AND HAD SOME BEAUTIFUL ASSISTS.
2. WILLIAMS PROB WON'T START UNLESS TEACHING CHISM A LESSON..LIKE DONT STAND STILL GO REBOUND.
JUST NOT GONNA HAPPEN..CHISM TOO IMPORTANT TO THE PRESS AND BDUB TO BIG FOR THAT RIGHT NOW..BUT THAT PROVES MORE OF YOUR LACK OF BASKETBALL INTELLIGENCE.
3. ACTUALLY ALMOST AGREE BUT HE WILL GET LESS PLAYING TIME THIS YEAR THAN HOLMES ANY OF THE SMITHS OR TABB.
4. CHISM WAS BY NO MEANS AGRESSIVE AROUND RIM AND EVEN GOT BENCHED IN 2ND HALF FOR WATCHING A GUY GET THE REBOUND IN FRONT OF HIM SO HE COULD BLOCK THE SHOT..YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW BBALL BUDDY.
5. A HALFWAY DECENT ASSESSMENT AS J WAY UNDERRATED BUT R MAKES TOO MANY STUPID MISTAKES AND IS A BALL HOG.

GO VOLS.

Temple was freakishly tall and had a ton of offensive rebounds. They shot well from the three, and their score was a little inflated due to them scoring about 7 on the freshman with 1:30 left. They were definitely sloppy, but that's what these games are for. Brian Williams has a great presence but needs a little more "finesse." Chris will get hot eventually, and when he does it's lights out. T. Smith is amazing and that ally-oop was sick. Lot's of people there tonight. I think they announced a capacity crowd of 21,800+ Future looks bright!

I think all 3 Smiths played good overall. Juan is underrated, but anyone would be on a team with Lofton. And Lofton going 8 for 8 from the line was better to see than the fact that his jump shot was off. BUT am I the only one that is not over impressed with Williams? He is decent, and may become really good, but I think Crews and Chism showed much more potential last year. Maybe its just me.
