Just for the heck of it, I'll take the lizards straight up against my beloved Vols for $50. I hope so hard it hurts the Vols win but ya gotta bet with your wallet instead of your heart.

I don't understand why people seem to think that gaining an actual QB and losing pretty much nothing else is gonna hurt their offense. Their defense might take a bit of a hit, but it's still much more athletic, deep, and experienced than ours is, and they are much deeper in the trenches.

Well, what I am hoping for is a non-gamer. Sometimes these highly rated kids just don't get it done when the pressure is on. The game in Neyland will def be the most pressure in his life so far- and I sure hope he cracks.

Here are some examples. USC last year. Ken Dorsey's replacement at UM (brock berlin?). Lsu after Russell.

I just hope that our teams doesn't experience this (I feel like we've paid our dues)

Another thought about this game:

I used to wish that it was played at the end of the season so we could be hitting on all cylinders, because it seemed we used to come out of the gate slow (especially against them).

But this year it really helps us. We get to play them at full strength (hopefully) before a seasons worth of injuries hurts us. Playing ky late every year really hurts them because of depth.

I know that our 1's stack up against UF's 1's a lot better than our 2's do.
These are some reasons why I am optimistic.

Florida didn't just lose a quarterback, Tebow was the catalyst of their whole offense. The threat of him running opened up everything for them. And they were automatic on 3rd and 3. Their offense will take a step back this year.

I agree, and they lost a few others to the nfl. Gator fan had been saying that last year was their year for a while- but I don't think they ever thought bama would be this good.

I just hope we turn it around as fast as they did (minus a loss to ULL)

We will play Florida closer this year than last. Everyone wants to talk about how Monte's defense held Florida to this and that, they punted one time last year and that came in the 4th quarter. Obviously they just ate clock and moved the ball. Also unless Tebow fumbles going in late, it's 30-6 again. We will play them alot closer this year.

the main problem for years has been in the trenches and that's where the problem still is.

during the five game streak....

tennessee a total of 305 yards rushing (61ypg)

florida has rushed for a total of 799 yards (159.8ypg)

What did you call 2 of the previous 3 years?

They were saying that back when bama had a bad year in sabans first season.
No one expected bama to come alive like that (undefeated regular season followed by BCS champ). I don't think UF fans respected them until after the sec champ game the first time- that's when they realized that it would most likely be a rematch in 09.

The best thing to do is to bet against TN for 100 bucks. That way if we win you don't miss the 100 dollars and if we lose you have $100 dollars to go buy a keg to drink away your sorrows.

yep.

It is going to be a lot different when Tebow can't just run it for a few yards and get a first down. Having the run or throw threat makes all the difference.

I'm not so sure the pressure will be that great. I'm pretty sure the current Gators look at us about the same way we see the Gamecocks. They may beat you once or twice a decade and the smack talk is cute, but they are rarely a real threat.

Doubtful. Everytime USCjr has beaten us, we have made a coaching change.(92 majors, 05 randy sanders, 08 fulmer) I doubt Florida looks at us the same way.

Hopefully the Oregon game turns out in our favor via Cal in '06 (Not necessarily a blowout though it would be nice, but just a decent win at least). Because I don't want another bad situation like last year with a deflating loss just before Florida.

Please don't compare us to USCjr even tho some folks are already talking about "next year".

Unfortunately I don't think we beat Florida but, we have a better shot this year than we have in the past few. Brantley seems he is going to be a good QB but there will be some nerves in his first big road game in Neyland. I think we are in it for a while but the Gators pull away at the end.

Which happened more recently: A UT win over UF or South Carolina beating us? I do believe they have beaten us twice since 2004. It is sad, but why should UF respect us more than we respect the Gamecocks right now? I greatly want that to change, but to many of them our team is a joke. As for the firings after South Carolina losses, that wasn't the only reason. Call me when Urban Meyer has a couple of losing seasons while laying eggs in toss up games.

All of that said, we don't need their respect before the game if we have earned it afterward. I think Dooley's Vols will be well coached and they will sneak up on a few teams. Go Vols!
